Last week my fabulous friend Karen Eubank, who I met through the Dirt Queen herself years ago and is a staging mastermind (read: if you are selling or have an event, you NEED her – she was my secret & saving grace in preparing for our home tour), invited me over to a house a block away from me to take a sneak peek before it hit the CRAZY market. I was blown away. And jealous. Seriously jealous. 622 Newell Ave. is in Hollywood Heights, is tastefully done, and has 2,883 square feet of space. In our historical ‘hood, it’s basically a mansion!
A majestic tudor that was taken to the studs in 2007, it boasts 10ft ceilings, recessed lighting, hardwood floors, Pella windows, built-ins + stained glass, a private bath for each bedroom, and WALK IN CLOSETS. I almost fainted in the master closet…I thought such a walk in closet was urban legend in Hollywood Heights.
The fireplace and mantle are perfection. Britt Lopez, who is a doll and incredibly professional, not to mention the Hollywood Heights real estate queen, has the listing. At 3 bedrooms and 3.5 baths, there’s room for everyone. And at $590,000 (listing price), it’s zoned for Lakewood Elementary and the Lindsley Park and Lindsley Park school (DISD) is walking distance away.
The kitchen isn’t shabby either. It features custom cabs, granite counters, stainless appliances, a marble top island, and built-in banquette seating for 4. I also love the sliding farmhouse door on the HUGE pantry – no pic of it, but trust me, it’s cool.
There’s even an office upstairs…most people in Hollywood Heights use their one spare bedroom as an office!
Oh, and a large upstairs laundry room with storage room attached to it! I can feel the jealousy in the force with which I type “large laundry room.” No pic, but it was a sight to be seen!
The backyard has a great deck, grass, and an actual functioning detached garage WITH STORAGE. Again, rare in this ‘hood!
FYI there’s a secret closet under the stairs that would be adorable as a tiny kids’ playroom/hideout. Although it was listed yesterday, chances are this gem will be under contract before I finish my little secret playroom daydream…
