Wes Lewis is such a hoot! This young Realtor has joined up with Rogers Healy and has completely taken off. Not only does Lewis have a fantastic sense of humor, but he also has excellent taste when it comes to design. He offers tips and tricks on his blog and to his clients. And get this — this Uptown Dallas agent often rides a Segway to showings! Never heard of that before!

Originality and flexibility are two traits you want in a Realtor, which is why he is this week’s Great Western Home Loans Featured Realtor, sponsored by Jeff Lindigrin. Jeff takes great care as a lender, as he should.

Of course, every sale should have a lender that works just as hard to get a great deal as their Realtor. What has your lender done for you lately? Find out what you’re missing by contacting Jeff Lindigrin with Great Western Home Loans today.

daltxrealestate.com: Where are you from?

Wes Lewis: Eastern Kentucky, a little town, Salyersville. Coincidentally, I never really had a hard time adjusting to the “big city life.” My parent’s still live there, and I rarely get to visit, but when I do, oh boy do I take down some fried chicken.

CD: So, how did you get into real estate? Did it have anything to do with your propensity for design?

WL: Growing up, I dreamed of big cars and fancy houses. It definitely made me seek out new things, better things, finer things. Having a background in psychology, I’ve always been fascinated with people’s reactions to stimuli. I just applied that fascination to real estate.

I love being able to see spaces, to analyze their functionality, the textures — all the things that make it it. Living in Uptown where space is tight has definitely changed my appreciation for functionality. I no longer acquire items just to have them. It’s not possible. Everything that takes up space has to be justified. If something has value to me, if it has merit, then I can justify it’s ownership.

CD: Tell us: What are some unique challenges that Realtors face in this super hot market where everyone wants to buy a house now? And what’s it like to office with Rogers Healy day in and day out?

WL: I think clients can’t wrap their head around just exactly how fast the market in Dallas moves. I think you have to be super careful not to offend your client when you’re prodding them to jump fast on a space.

Rogers amazes me — he’s truly in it for the people. I’ve never quite seen someone with the ability to recall a name like he does — the elephant never forgets. Also, randomly dropping chocolates on everyones desk isn’t a bad thing.

CD: Where is home for you in Dallas?

WL: Uptown, I love it there! Everything is so close — the dog park, restaurants, shopping, the grocery. My husband and I walk to almost everything. Plus, Uptown is super dog friendly — so Henri the Poodle and Amy the Cocker go almost everywhere with us.

CD: And you drive a … let me guess, Range Rover?

WL: I usually drive a Segway to showings. When I’m touring with more than one client, I’ll usually just take my Mercedes. It’s palladium silver, it reminds me of the ocean on a cloudy day. I ride shot-gun in Rogers’ Range Rover — it’s pretty sweet.

CD: What’s your favorite ‘hood in Dallas and why?

WL: My favorite — that’s a tough one. It’s definitely a close tie between State Thomas and Cedar Springs. I think State Thomas wins. It totally reminds me of being in the Lakeview area of Chicago (my second favorite city to Dallas) — it’s super quiet, feels cozy, has just enough trees, and boasts some great eateries.

CD: What was your best/highest sale?

WL: I don’t measure it by price … it’s all by memories.

CD: Likewise, what was your most challenging or memorable transaction?

WL: All my transactions are memorable.

CD: How quickly have you ever turned a house?

WL: An hour

CD: What words of wisdom do you often share with clients?

WL: Stress less, Call Wes. That sounds good, right?

To me, finding a space is visceral, it’s emotional. Spaces are where we celebrate our life’s moments.
Everyone says material things don’t matter, but they absolutely do … they matter because they surround us when our moments are happening.

So, I always ask my clients, how does this space make you feel? I tell them, regardless of price, if it doesn’t feel right — it isn’t right.

CD: If you ever change careers for an encore you’ll…

WL: Well … I’ll never change careers. I’m super committed.

My Momma taught me that when you go after something, you go after it until there’s nothing left — you exhaust it, exhaust yourself — you give it your all, and if you love it, then it will love you back.

CD: Do you have a second home? If so, where?

WL: No, although I’m happily accepting donations. I’d prefer it to be somewhere warm and near the ocean, thanks.
