As a Realtor and a real estate writer, I obviously love every house that was built ever. Obviously. But sometimes there’s one that comes along that I cannot freaking wait to write up.

Located in Granbury, this Palm Springs-style Midcentury is an active Airbnb and was the personal project of a very stylish schoolteacher.
Granbury is about an hour and a half southwest of Dallas and was voted USA Today’s Best Historic Small Town in America in 2019, 2020, and 2021. It’s a Reader’s Choice Award and somehow Wickford, Rhode Island, dethroned Granbury in 2022.

It is adorable and the main draw is the cutest downtown, plenty of events and festivals, and, of course, Lake Granbury. Bubel said it’s long been a tourist town, but recently has seen an influx of young families moving in for a simpler, slower pace of life. And the commute to Dallas one to two days a week isn’t terrible either.
Now let’s talk about Sky Harbour, this cute little two-bedroom, two-bathroom home that has an unexpected detail literally around every corner. Bubel said the owner/designer put so much thought and attention into every selection from the wallpaper to the hardware. There’s some really fun wallpaper, too. Like the super fun Palm Springs-style one in the bathroom.
It’s definitely a home that is suited for lake life with polished concrete floors, just enough closet space, and a super-efficient kitchen. Bubel said it does have everything you’re looking for so if you wanted to make it a family home, it’s completely doable.

It’s filled with good vibes and that breathtaking wall of windows with a view is really spectacular. In person, you get to see and appreciate every detail including two functioning fireplaces, one of which is in the front bedroom, Bubel’s favorite room in the house.
Bubel lives in Granbury and is raising her kids here, so if you have any questions about the area, she’s a superb resource. She said she and her husband and one son recently walked through the disc golf course nearby and were totally blown away. She said it’s meticulously manicured like a professional golf course.
