Well, this is nice and random. Who’s up for a trip to Gainesville? No one? On account of the not currently icy roads, but you never know what the future holds? Or is it because you’re like “Gainesville? Why?”
So many reasons. Not the least of which is the fried pies, made fresh daily at The Cornerstone Café. It’s located in Historic Downtown Gainesville which is every cute little downtown you’re imagining.

Gainesville is Adorable And Affordable
Anyway, it has an adorable downtown with everything you’d hope for in an adorable downtown. Cute local boutiques, an abundance of antique shops, cozy cafes, and a historic theater.
But Gainesville, my friends, is getting a bit of a revamp. There’s a coffee and bakery shop called Sweet Jayne’s that’s pretty freaking cute and out of the gate tells you what they’re about: “We’re awesome at what we do and not awesome at custom order special occasion cakes, so we don’t sell those!” It’s that new storefront energy that’s making people reconsider Gainesville.

And they just recently added The Eucalyptus Room, “Gainesville’s first and only micro-venue.” It’s cute, too, with shiplap, brass light fixtures, and a black and white awning out front. Previously, the only venue to rent was The State Theater and it was kind of a catchall — live theater, weddings, senior pictures, etc.

Gainesville also has the Frank Buck Zoo with a cute little train that runs around. I’m sure we’re all rethinking zoos like should we still be doing this … but if it’s open, might as well pop in and wave to the monkeys.

One final reason to rethink Gainesville? Affordability. As in, here’s a ranch-style house that’s almost 3,000 square feet, set on one-third of an acre, and listed for $397,000.

Sweet ’70s Style With a Great Floorplan
This 1970s contemporary has a dream layout for entertaining with a brick fireplace and wet bar with a serving window. The primary bathroom is large enough for a seating area and the ensuite bathroom has dual sinks and a separate vanity.
The layout is original and with it comes all the built-ins, the spacious eat-in kitchen with a built-in hutch, and a beloved built-in laundry hamper in the primary. All the bedrooms are generous and this one would be so fun to make your own. And since is listed under $400,000, you have the spare change to make it happen.

Natalie Graves with Prime Properties has 500 Aspen Road listed for $397,000.
