Get a Fresh Look With Vintage Flair in This Lake Highlands Ranch

It seems Lake Highlands has truly arrived. Once a sedate area of Northeast Dallas complete with the random outcropping of interesting architecture, Lake Highlands now fetches a premium price for even a modest midcentury ranch. Take this listing from Local Resident Realtor Amy Timmerman.

While this home is adorable and yes, for less than $350k, it does a body good. However, the home itself isn’t usually what delivers the big value in Lake Highlands. As the well-initiated may know, it’s the schools.

This particular home sits inside the Richardson ISD attendance area, though its address is within the City of Dallas. Homes that sit in this overlap between two circles of a Venn diagram tend to have a little upcharge attached, though this house packs plenty of appeal on its own.

This home, which sports two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and three living areas, is absolutely sunny. That’s thanks in part to the large windows that bathe the formal living and dining rooms in natural light. The designer pendants, which add midcentury flair to the 1,766-square-foot floor plan.

Just beyond the family room which accesses the backyard via a sliding glass door, is the kitchen. I cannot tell you how loud my heart sang after seeing the original wood cabinetry in this home. I am thrilled that the sellers missed the infestation of Shaker-style, all-white kitchens and opted to keep the vintage flair intact. New countertops and a mosaic backsplash are the perfect accents to the warm wood, and we are absolutely smitten with the original stove, still holding court in the galley.

The master bath, however, did get a refresh, complete with baby blue barn door. That’s probably for the best considering how borderline claustrophobic most vintage master baths are in homes of this age.

If you think this home might be the one, you’re in luck. Timmerman is holding this midcentury ranch in Lake Highlands open on Sunday, Jan. 5, from 3:30 to 5 p.m.

Amy Timmerman with Local Resident Realty has listed 9022 Guildhall Drive for $349,900.
