According to stories, 4415 Tamworth Rd. was the first Midcentury Modern home built in Ridglea Hills.

First, let’s be honest — we love winners. Whether it’s the first place ribbon you got for the egg toss in second grade or picking the Final Four correctly, we love being first!

How about the opportunity to own the first ever Midcentury Modern home built in the glorious neighborhood of Ridglea Hills in Fort Worth?

According to stories, the first Midcentury Modern home was built in 1960 at 4415 Tamworth Road, and is the subject of today’s Tarrant County Tuesday column.

The First in Ridglea Hills

If 4415 Tamworth Road truly is the first home of its kind to be built in Ridglea Hills, that is certainly a feat.  Even if it was the second or third home built, it’s a pretty cool title to hold.

Spacious family room features a stone fireplace (a staple of Midcentury Modern homes) and plenty of room – even for a pool table!

This 4,105-square-foot home has four bedrooms with wood floors, four-and-one-half bathrooms, a formal dining area, formal sitting, and a huge family area that looks onto the backyard and swimming pool (more on that later).

But wait .. there’s more!

Mother-In-Law Suite

Since we are discussing “firsts,” who was the first person to use the term “mother-in-law suite,” and is that really a term that applies to us in 2019?  Why can’t it be “father-in-law suite”?  How about “kid-who-can’t-get-a-job-after-college suite”? (I guess that would be too long for MLS description.)

Regardless of the name, if you are in need of an additional suite for someone to live, check the attached suite!

The attached suite has full kitchen, sitting, bath, bed and exterior access

Directly connected to the large family room you will find a small kitchen, bedroom, bathroom, and sitting area.  It is ideal for guests, long-term visitors, or yes, even a mother-in-law.

If Pools Could Talk

Here’s a little tidbit that I found out about 4415 Tamworth Road that is investigative journalism at its finest.  In 1972, while a young fella was taking a swimming lesson at the home, he nearly drowns.

Hopefully you will enjoy the pool of 4415 Tamworth Road more than when listing agent Alexander Chandler took lessons there!

Fast forward to 2018 and that same young fella walked into 4415 Tamworth Road on a listing appointment.  That individual was none other than Alexander Chandler, owner of Alexander Chandler Realty!

Often I will reach out to Fort Worth Realtor Facebook pages to see if any agent has a property with an interesting story that might be a fit for Tarrant County Tuesday.  Immediately Mr. Chandler replied with his story regarding his near-death incident many years ago.  Talk about the circle of life!

Now, an Olympic-caliber swimmer and aquatic aficionado, Mr. Chandler is listing 4415 Tamworth Road for $575,000. Go see this piece of Ridglea Hills nostalgia today!

Well, that’s all from Tarrant County Tuesday this week Dirty Readers.  Thanks for reading and following and sharing!  As always, if you have questions, comments or great ideas for a post … hit me up!
