Feeling Tense? Spacious Oak Cliff Contemporary Was Built For Relaxing

This North Oak Cliff California contemporary won’t make you choose between spaces made to entertain and a place to retreat!

When someone describes a home as “a retreat,” my mind automatically imagines a spa day. However, most homes are not at all like a trip to the spa. But this Oak Cliff California-style contemporary actually does feel like a trip to the spa, which is why it’s earned the title of Inwood National Bank Home of the Week.

As an added bonus, this home is perfect for any party you can dream up, says listing agent George W. Hawkins II of Briggs Freeman Sotheby’s International Realty.

“With the spacious open floor plan, it’s an entertainers dream,” Hawkins said. ” Plus, it has a master retreat that is separate from your guest wing.”

If that doesn’t say “relaxing retreat,” you might need to check your thesaurus.

When Hawkins said the floor plan was open, I was in no way prepared for just how open it was. This living area, which is attached to a bar complete with a flat-screen TV for watching whatever sport you fancy, is so big and open that you could easily do synchronized cartwheels with your family.

The living room, with vaulted ceilings and fireplace, is the perfect spot for drinks with your closest friends or movie night with your family. Plenty of light streams in from the arched windows and full-light patio door. Just beyond is a great pool and patio (more on that in a minute).

Fan of formal entertaining? Have a dramatic vibe? Imagine hosting a candlelit dinner in this dining room. The mirrored ceiling and open walls would make for quite the ambience!  Plus, you can really appreciate the warm floors and smooth walls throughout. The home has so much to love throughout its 4,433 square feet. There are four bedrooms, plus four full and one-half baths in this 1989-built home. Renovated in 2012 to focus on the master suite, you’ll appreciate how relevant this home is to how we live today.

The kitchen is large and well equipped and has an adjoining breakfast area. I love how much light this home has, and I am kind of digging the rich espresso stain on the floors in this room, which is a stark contrast from the honey-colored wood underfoot elsewhere.

If you’re not yet in love, Hawkins says you’ll definitely fall for the master suite.

At first blush, he’s definitely not wrong. The master bedroom is huge, with the same full-light patio doors leading to the backyard that we spotted in the living room. You get the same dramatic vaulted ceilings, too, and those wood floors are anchored by a stone hearth and fireplace. But what you’ll truly adore is the master bath.731-Kessler-Lake-Drive-Front-1 731-Kessler-Lake-Drive-Front-1

Hawkins tells us that this home sports a renovated master bath with a beautiful multi-head shower that looks out to the trees, a soaking tub, and a hot stone sauna off the master suite. Yes — there’s a sauna. But there’s more!

Just beyond the large stone patio is a great pool with attached spa. This, to me, makes the home perfect for every season.

“The home is beautiful, perfect for entertaining, and sits on a private cul-de-sac with a private island owned by all residents of this highly luxurious secluded street in Kessler Park,” Hawkins shared.

Want to admire it in person? There are open houses from 1 to 3 p.m. on both Saturday, August 10, and Sunday, August 11.

George W. Hawkins II with Briggs Freeman Sotheby’s International Realty has listed 731 Kessler Lake Dr. for $1.049 million.
