Enjoy Year-Round Hamptons Style in Sunnybrook Estates

When you think of “The Hamptons,” an immediate sense of serenity and relaxation comes to mind. This is not surprising, as it’s one of the top destinations for second homes and family beach vacations in America. Once you’ve been – well you just keep going back. So we’re happy to have found a little slice of Hamptons style right here at 9500 Inwood Road that you can enjoy year round.

Faisal Halum with Briggs Freeman Sotheby’s has this charming Austin stone home in Sunnybrook Estates listed for $2.65 million— you’re not going to touch anything like this in the Hamptons for that price.

Built in 1939 this 4,645-square-foot house is a perfect example of a great remodel. It takes imagination and talent to understand the original nature of a home and how to maintain its character. Mandy and Drew Jordan did just that six years ago they completely remodeled the house, retaining the original footprint as well as some wonderful features like the brick floors in the family room and pine wood flooring in one of the upstairs bedrooms.

Of course they had a bit of an edge. Mandy is an interior designer and her dad is an architect, so the talent advantage was off the charts. They set to work creating new interiors in the three-bedroom, three-full-and-one-half-bath home. A new roof was added as well as new windows, doors, HVAC system, and hardwood floors. So the best of both worlds, a little of the old and a lot of the new.

When you think of Hamptons style, invariably light, bright, and white come to mind. These are present, in abundance, but what really sets the look of this home apart are some innovative color choices. They create the “wow” factor.

The moment you enter the front door you’re greeted by walls bathed in Benjamin Moore’s Cedar Green. It’s energizing, refreshing, and works as the perfect foil for that abundance of light, white, and bright that flows throughout.

The house is laid out around a central family room which opens into the formal dining room with a stunning Sanderson floral wallpaper, a vaulted study, the kitchen, and the master bedroom. This is typical of what you’d find in a Hamptons vacation home for an easy flow of both living and entertaining.

And of course, entertaining centers on the kitchen. This is one of the loveliest we’ve ever seen. The island and counters are topped with Statuary Classic Carrara marble. A Lacanche five-burner gas cooktop with two ovens is a dream come true for any devoted chef — this is a serious piece of equipment.

There’s more “Wow” color in the generous master bedroom. Mandy opted for Benjamin Moore’s Riviera Azure, which has to be one of the most peaceful colors ever created. The French doors lead to the backyard and do we ever love the backyard!

Robert Bellamy is responsible for the wonderland acre of dogwoods, azaleas, peach trees, Japanese Maples, climbing jasmine, and roses. It’s rare a house is set into such an abundant landscape. “It’s refreshing to see a house that is the appropriate size for a large lot,” Halum said.

In the heart of this gorgeous landscaping, just past the pool, is what must be the cutest guest house in town. Marble topped kitchen counters, an art studio, and a bedroom with wood paneled ceilings and walls create a warm cozy cottage — so be careful, your guests may never leave!GetMedia-1.ashx_-2-1024x768

There’s also a chicken coop on the grounds that is worthy of your prize-winning Araucana’s.
