When it comes to curb appeal, few homes have it nailed as perfectly as our Tuesday Two Hundred.

The house at 1611 Cascade Ave. in North Oak Cliff’s Elmwood neighborhood offers a cottage feel and fabulous drive-up appeal, with painted white brick, a duck-egg blue front door, a nice front porch, and overall welcoming look.

The inside is as charmed as the outside, with sunny, bright rooms, hardwood floors, large living room, attached garage, and updated kitchen and bath. It has two bedrooms, one bathroom, and 1,196 square feet, built in 1941.

When people think of North Oak Cliff neighborhoods, they tend to name off Kessler Park, Bishop Arts, and Winnetka Heights. But there are others that are simply wonderful, too, like Elmwood, where our Tuesday Two Hundred is located. Among the gently rolling hills and lush greenbelt are tons of Tudors, Craftsman bungalows, and ranch-style cottages like this one, mostly built in the 1920s through the 1950s. Elmwood has the feel of a retreat, but it’s only 1o miles from downtown Dallas. And did we mention the mature trees everywhere? It’s just lovely.

This home is located near Wright Street and S. Tyler Street, next to the Wynnewood North neighborhood. In its living room, there is an original fireplace (now decorative), crown moulding, and those original hardwoods (they are everywhere except kitchen, bathroom, and sunroom—no carpet in sight).

The kitchen is made modern with on-trend white Shaker-style cabinets, a black tile backsplash, and stainless steel appliances, including a gas range. Nearby, the sunroom is a total retreat, with freshly painted gray walls, built-in bookshelves and cabinets, and sliding glass doors, leading to the backyard. Out there, you’ll find a deck and lots of grassy green space, perfect for entertaining, or just relaxing.

This home was listed Sept. 16 by Jenni Stolarski with Briggs Freeman Sotheby’s International Realty for $229,000.
