Dave Perry-Miller Continues Support for Lakewood Home Festival During Trying Times

The Lakewood neighborhood is home to a variety of architecturally significant residences and highly rated schools. Combined with the strong, vibrant community, they comprise the tapestry that is this East Dallas treasure. This weekend all three of these unique attributes are on display during the COVID edition of the 44th Annual Lakewood Home Festival, of which Dave Perry-Miller Real Estate is a longtime sponsor.

Lakewood comprises approximately 2,900 homes, including a harmonious mix of Tudors, Colonial Revival and Spanish-style homes from the ’20s and ’30s, alongside ’50s bungalows, ’60s ranch-style homes and new construction homes.

The area is also home to the strong Woodrow Wilson feeder pattern, which includes Lakewood Elementary and J.L. Long Middle Schools. The three schools enjoy great support from those within its boundaries, including the Lakewood Early Childhood PTA. The LECPTA’s home festival proceeds benefit students through the purchase of school materials, computers and enrichment programs.

The LECPTA and the Festival chairs had to do a lot of fancy footwork to pull off the home tour during a pandemic, but they did it — albeit a little modified. Okay, a lot modified.

This year, the Auction Party (presented by Dave Perry-Miller Real Estate) is almost as robust as ever, but will be conducted from the safety and comfort of home. The theme is “Lakewood Live” so attendees should feel free to dress up as Rosanne Rosannadanna, Matt Foley or another classic Saturday Night Live character. With registration, the “SNL stage” is brought into your living room, with live music, special guests, pre-recorded skits submitted by the community, links to a live and silent auction, and many fun surprises along the way. There’s even a VIP Lakewood Live Party Pack (premium gift basket) available, but orders must be placed ASAP (aka, now) before they’re gone. It’s all free, but attendees are encouraged to make a donation equal to what they might have spent on the evening out.

The home tour itself is a street-view only event. To see which houses are featured, you’ll need to purchase the informative guidebook (sponsored by DPMRE agent and two-time LHF chair Skylar Champion) with twice as many pictures as well as activity pages for the children.

This year’s homes include a 1927 Dines & Kraft at 6907 Lakewood Blvd., plus a new construction on Blue Valley Lane, the first home built on Lakewood Boulevard, a creekside home on Lake Circle, a rustic Mediterranean on Fisher Road, and a modern Tudor on Gaston.
