This Saturday, celebrate art and music on the open-air porches in Peak’s Addition neighborhood at Dallas Porchfest.

From noon until 8 p.m., neighbors, musicians, and artists will roam from porch to porch in the 4700 block of Swiss Avenue in East Dallas, between Carroll and Fitzhugh avenues. Musicians will play at designated times, while other festivities occur throughout the day.

Dallas Porchfest is all about honoring music and the art in open-air porches, and creating a sense of community among neighbors and locals.

Entertainment will include live jazz, songwriters, and classic rock, like the Woodrow Wilson Jazz Band, the Kidd Sisters, and La Pompe. There will also be beer tastings from local brews and wine samples, and food sold by locals, including Jimmy’s Food Store, Buzzbrews Kitchen, Liberty Burger, and Pope’s Fried Chicken.

Fifteen artists are slated to be at Dallas Porchfest, from handmade jewelry by Kathy Latour and steel art by Steel Salvation, to ceramic arts from Betsy’s Mud Puppies and handcrafted Turkish jewelry and accessories from the Gypsy Wagon.

Dallas Porchfest will also have a raffle, with prizes including a wine tasting for ten at Times Ten Cellars, six bottles of rosé wine from Veritas Wine Bar, and tickets for the Dallas Zoo, Dallas Children’s Aquarium at Fair Park, and the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Gardens.

The idea for Porchfest began in Ithaca, NY, in 2007 and has spread since then to become a grassroots festival happening in across North America.
