Jennifer Johnson Clarke is tenacious. First, it’s one thing to start a home building business — it’s complicated! But starting a home-building business during a pandemic? That’s bravery. And it’s also exactly what she did just a few months ago with Olivia Clarke Homes, one of the newest members of the Dallas Builders Association and this week’s Dallas Builders Association Member Spotlight.

Find out more about Clarke and her brand as the Daltxrealestate.com staff highlights some of the spectacular members of Dallas Builders Association right here, asking these consummate professionals all about their business as a way to brag on the many quality, trustworthy builders in the North Texas area that can count themselves among their peers in the Dallas Builders Association.

What location or area do you primarily build in? What about the location makes it especially attractive?

We will build primarily in Collin/Denton counties. We are concentrating on the narrow-lot/low-maintenance product ideally located with in a multi-use project. We are building duplex homes in Castle Hills and 30-foot lots in the re-development of Collin Creek Mall. We will build duplexes, 30- and 40-foot lots in Celina’s master-planned community of Rollertown.

What’s your go-to architectural style? Traditional? Contemporary? Old World? Modern?

Transitional, clean line architecture. Many of our styles will be dictated by the theme of the master-planned community.

How does your company provide value to your clients?

We focus on intentional design. Every square inch is thought through. How would one function/live in this home, entertain, and use the storage is paramount and no space is wasted.

Most homebuilders focus on room count and square footage. While that’s important, we take it several steps past that and intentionally design the use of that space for its maximum value by envisioning how we would live in the home.

Considering the competition, how does your brand distinguish itself?

Beginning with the name, Olivia Clarke Homes. It’s feminine. OCH is the first production home building company in D-FW owned and operated by a female. Our website doesn’t contain one picture of a house. We aren’t selling a house, we are selling the life you want to create for your family.

Memories, tradition, security. Our homes are just a vehicle.

What does being a member of the Dallas Builders Association do for you and your business?

The DBA provides almost limitless resources, education, networking, etc. You’re not on an island doing this alone. Feels like a team of people are surrounding us, propelling our success

What is the biggest challenge you face in the current market? What are you doing to overcome it?

Obtaining trades, as a start-up purchasing power is little to none. I’m relying on relationships I have built over the past 20 years in the industry to establish a trade base.
