Over the last 25 years, the North Texas region has seen great advances in its built environment. The Dallas Arts District has been finished, new museums in both Dallas and Fort Worth have been built, and significant public spaces, parks, and public art have opened, positively engaging the community. In addition, many outstanding educational, medical, athletic, and residential projects have been completed. To make note of these achievements, the Dallas Architecture Forum plans to recognize and honor these developments with a celebratory 25th Anniversary Design Recognition: Looking Back – Looking Forward.
“Over the last 25 years, the greater Dallas-Fort Worth area has seen an amazing transformation, with new master-planned communities, museums, performing arts venues, parks, and public spaces. In addition, we have added signature bridges, office buildings and corporate headquarters, schools, sports facilities, hotels, adaptive reuse projects, and public art to North Texas’ urban landscape,” said Dallas Architecture Forum executive director Nate Eudaly. “The Dallas Architecture Forum’s Design Recognition is an outstanding and unique opportunity to recognize 25 of these significant developments.”
25th Anniversary Design Recognition: Looking Back – Looking Forward.
The forum will recognize 25 projects that have been completed over the last 25 years, regardless of whether that was in 1997, 2021, or anytime in between. Also, because many new projects are now in process, the jury brought together by the forum will also recognize up to 10 projects that have been completed since January 2022, are under construction, or have set a date for a groundbreaking (with that date included in this submission) before the entry deadline.
“We have a stellar jury panel of nationally recognized design thought leaders who will review submissions and determine the most significant design developments during this timeframe,” Eudaly said. “We also will recognize landmark renovations and innovative new residential design, landscapes, and interior design as part of the competition.”
Entries must be located in the North Texas area (Dallas, Tarrant, Collin, Denton, Johnson, Ellis, Rockwall, Kaufman, Wise or Parker counties). The person or firm submitting the project does not need to be based in North Texas. However, at least one person, firm, or organization connected to the submission must have a physical location in North Texas.
“We encourage entries from developers, clients/owners, architects, landscape architects, interior designers, planners, and other design and business leaders for this very unique and important opportunity,” Eudaly said. “We look forward to sharing the jury’s important decisions of the most significant design developments in North Texas over the last twenty-five years, and prominently recognizing the winners both locally as well as nationally.”
