Many realtors are awesome givers and support the community in various ways. From donations to spreading awareness to supporting a charity throughout their career, realtors can make a huge difference in the community they service. One such example popped into my email this week. As an alumna of The Hockaday School, I received a note that Claire Dewar, Hockaday class of 1975 and 4 year top producer with Briggs Freeman Sotheby’s International, has “pledged $1 million as a challenge grant to the alumnae community in support of the Centennial Center Phase II (Fine Arts).”

The details of this challenge grant are forthcoming, but the Centennial Center Phase I (Science) will open in August to begin the 2014-2015 school year.

Hockaday just celebrated it’s 100th year of inspiring, educating, and empowering young women in April, and pledging $1 million in the wake of the celebrations will definitely get alumnae and the community excited about providing the bright women of the future with the most advanced Fine Arts facility in which to explore their creativity.

The future female leaders of our city and I thank Claire Dewar for her amazing generosity and support of the fibers which hold our society together – smart females and whatever their dreams and aspirations may be!
