One of Zoccola’s Broken Bow Designs

When you first step into their incredible home on Purple Sage Circle, you think, “OK, these two know what the heck they’re doing.” Then you ask, “Which one is the designer?” And it turns out, this time, they both kind of are.

She is Cicelyann Zoccola of Curated Designs Studio, formerly known as A Curated Cabin, and he is Chad Henderson of Ironclad Doors. They married in 2017 and the result is a freaking creative powerhouse comprised of two people with two talents that you definitely want to know.

Dodging Design Destiny

Zoccola always loved interior design. She got it from her grandmother and mother. They were the types that would swap the living room and the dining room like real deal stuff, not just rearrange the lamps. They were into antiques and very particular. That impeccable eye was clearly passed down to our girl, Zoccola. But, she took a roundabout way to get there. Despite her childhood dream of becoming an interior designer, Zoccola actually went to college and earned a communications degree. It just seemed like a safer, more stable career move.

Turns out you can only dodge destiny for so long. Eventually, Zoccola was ready for something new. She had no idea what and thought maybe she’d start her own marketing thing. The more she asked friends and family, the more her next move became completely obvious — interior design.

Zoccola had always been the friend you called for design advice, the one you dragged along couch shopping, and the one you went to when your room just wasn’t making sense. It was such an obvious choice, but she still needed a nudge.

Shoutout to that Zoccola Cabin range. A totally different take.

Closing Windows And Opening Doors

Here comes Henderson to save the day. He encouraged her to go for it, being a longtime entrepreneur himself. A few years ago, he was building houses and always had a need for iron doors. Eventually, he found the manufacturer in Mexico. He made a visit, made a deal, and started his own iron door business. He tried to get out of the game once, but his builders pulled him back in. There’s just a need for what he does — create custom front doors that are pretty much a work of art. Like the one in his own home pictured above.

Now we have construction covered and design covered so how did Zoccola finally make the leap? In a city you’re not expecting – Broken Bow. They bought a cabin up there, designed it, and built it. They were in all the cabin owners’ groups when it became obvious there was a serious need for a designer in Broken Bow. Zoccola offered her services and has been making Broken Bow look good for years.

She loves it when she gets to help design from the ground up and create what she calls “an elevated finish, not just elevated fixtures.” But she loves it all, really, so much so that recently when her company grew to a team of eight, Zoccola scaled it all back. She was trapped in that management loop and wasn’t getting to do the one thing she set out to do — design.

Now, she’s back in and has expanded her business way beyond cabins, which is great news for us, and our living rooms.

Another Ironclad creation.

She said every space is a reflection of that person. She helps bring that personality to life. She also loves to add custom pieces that make a home feel special. One of her cabin clients has a pet pig, so she gifted them with a custom piece of art of their little pig canoeing around Broken Bow Lake. THOUGHTFUL. And available for hire.
