Kelton

An architectural contemporary masterpiece is up for grabs in the upscale Inwood Park neighborhood, and it is everything. Homes in this area are known for unique features and a look that makes passers-by stop and snap a picture.

When I was growing up in College Station, there was a home we all loved to gawk at. It had exposed bright red pipes and a thing that looked like a red slinky coming out of the side. The angles were weird; it was totally non-conforming to the rest of the houses in that residential area. I’ve looked it up recently and can’t find it – unless it looks drastically different now. Perhaps it was nothing terribly special, and yet, in high school, we drove past it and told each other, “I want to live there someday.” It was a conversation piece.

That home was the first thing I thought of when I came across this gem on Kelton Drive. Because this Dallas gem not only looks cool, it is cool. Featuring 3,129 square feet of space, the two-story, three-bedroom, three-bathroom abode has bright and open living space flowing to an outdoor courtyard.

The home rents for $9,500 per month – but just look at all you get for that price.

Bells And Whistles

Built by Grand Development, the 2019 home features an open kitchen with a premium appliance package, Treefrog veneer cabinetry, and a quartz island for entertaining.

The jaw-dropping master bedroom features a his-and-hers closet, dual vanities, stand-up shower, vessel tub, and – wait for it – built-in coffee maker.

Inwood Park is known as an older neighborhood south of Lovers Lane with “architecturally significant homes.” Crime is low, prices are high, neighbors are nice … need I say more? All that’s missing is a crazy rumor about the Madman who used to live in the modern masterpiece on Kelton Drive.

To Rent Or To Buy

We recently learned that it is in fact cheaper to rent than buy in Dallas and Tarrant counties, thanks to information published in a report by ATTOM Data Solutions.

Buying a home, however, is more cost-effective in 53 percent of U.S. markets, the report adds.

“Home ownership is a better deal than renting for the average wage earner in a slim majority of U.S. housing markets. However, there are distinct differences between different places, depending on the size and location from core metro areas,” said Todd Teta, chief product officer with ATTOM Data Solutions.

For those who want to go all in, the Kelton Drive home is also for sale, with a price tag of $975,000.

Barbara Arredondo with Clay Stapp + Co. is leasing 4439 Kelton Drive, Dallas, for $9,500 per month.
