The saying around Dallas is that when you move to Bluffview, you move to your forever home. Don Henley, founding member of the Eagles, and Kay Bailey Hutchinson, former senator of Texas, have certainly found forever homes in the neighborhood, so you’ll be in great company if you’re lucky enough to nab 4500 Bluffview Boulevard. Listed by Susan Baldwin and Ginger Nobles with The Nobles Baldwin Group at Briggs Freeman Sotheby’s International for $2.649 million, it went into MLS Tuesday, so we suggest you move fast.

Originally built by Clay Bright for himself, this is another case of a fellow that knows building better than most, so you can bet this beauty is a sound investment. Bright, along with his brother Chris, helm Bright Industries and are the brains behind just a few companies you may have heard of: American Legends Homes, Belclair Homes, and Castle Hills. So yes, he knows a thing or two about great construction and design.

This 5,634-square-foot stone home has four bedrooms, four full bathroms, and one half bathroom. “It also has the ultimate amenity: privacy,” Baldwin said.

Privacy is one of the many reasons celebrities and politicians are drawn to this area. Bluffview lies along cliffs that overlook Bachman Branch and its tributaries. The cliffs rise up to 50 feet at points and many homes overlook the water, hence the view of the bluffs and the name of the neighborhood. Bluffview has the added benefit of being centrally located, so you have privacy but are also minutes from downtown and Love Field.

“This home sits on over an acre of land and has that indoor-outdoor lifestyle buyers are looking for,” Baldwin said. It also has the open floor plan we all love and incredible beamed and vaulted ceilings. It seems everyone wants the one big room lifestyle and this home has been beautifully designed to offer that, yet still give each family member a space to call their own.

The dining area offers an intimate space while still being open to the rest of the home.

Few people use a formal living room today, so the space where you’d expect to see one has been designed as more of a cozy informal living and library area, which makes so much more sense. A fabulous wall design  separates this room from the great room. Those niches can hold books,  house a great sculpture collection, or showcase treasured mementos. They also allow  a sneak peek into the giant great room. “It’s an amazing space,” Baldwin said. “The huge floor-to-ceiling stone fireplace is easily five feet wide. Light pours in from the ceiling-height windows and even on a dark rainy day it’s bright inside.”

The gourmet kitchen opens off of the great room and has everything a chef dreams about: a Wolf gas cooktop, double ovens, and soapstone countertops. It’s designed for maximum ease and efficiency and offers just enough separation from the great room that it’s easy to concentrate on your latest culinary masterpiece yet oversee kids or guests.

The master suite is downstairs and there are two suites for the kids in a separate wing, nicely thought out. There’s another suite on the second floor with a living area so a great space for an older child or visiting guests.

“The outdoor area is spectacular,” Baldwin said. “There’s an outdoor kitchen and a series of covered loggias with retractable screens, so it’s truly livable space. There’s also a beautiful spa-pool, a huge lawn area and a sports court. You may be in the heart of Dallas but you’d never know it in that backyard, there’s total privacy.”

And you never know what celebrity might be living next door.
