What I know about Shreveport you can write on a napkin. It’s a cocktail napkin and I got it at one of the Riverboat Casinos because that’s most of what I know.

Fun Facts About Shreveport

When you want to know about something, you Google it. Then Generative AI gives you a warning and it being experimental and then some results. In no particular order, here are some Shreveport Facts from me to you with love…

  1. It was an All American City in 1953, 1979, and 1999.
  2. In the 1990s “Shreveport became known for its rap music scene, and acquired its famous ‘aka’ name, Ratchet City.
  3. Guess what other nickname it has? The Hollywood of the South. (Well, I never.) That just seems like something Southern and Shreveport-y.
  4. Now this one was listed under “Fun Facts”: It was first settled in 1803 and originally named “Shreve Town.” (I feel like Google and I have different versions of the word “fun.”)

ANYWAY, look at this freaking house. It’s so pretty.

Sincere props to Berkshire Hathaway’s Adam Lytle and Leslie Hankins for opting for the twilight photo package because that house on the hill-ish looks spectacular at dusk. And pretty great during the daytime, too.

When French Met Modern

It’s a four-bedroom, four-bathroom home with a killer pool surrounded by lush landscaping. But first, let’s take stock of the meticulously updated interiors topped off by a recently installed glass front entry door.

As Lytle and Hankins point out, it adds “a contemporary touch” to an otherwise traditional Acadiana-style home. If you’re not familiar with Acadiana, it’s a style of architecture that originated in the North American French colonies. It’s also largely influenced by French country-style homes. You know the drill — steep, gabled roofs, large front porches, dormer windows typically with shutters, brick exterior with the occasional stucco accent, etc. Typically a single-story home, this one breaks with tradition with two full stories.

It’s a mix of French Country charm with modern paint, wallpaper, and fixtures to give it a designer feel. In the entry, you’ll find pristine hardwoods that give way to tile in the formal living. If there’s an idea to steal in this house, it’s painting the interior of the built-ins black. What a rich dang look.

This Fire is Fire

The open secondary living and versatile nook off the kitchen have inlaid brick flooring. It gives the home the warmest, coziest, (don’t tell them I said this) old-school La Madeleine feel. And that fireplace! It’s so perfect. I want to settle into that conversation pit.

All the bedrooms are generous, the layout is flawless, and there’s a dang media room with leopard print carpet. Not only is the pool spectacular, well landscaped, and has a rocky waterfall feature, but it also occupies just a sliver of this two-acre lot.

I never knew I wanted to move to Shreveport but for this house? Maybe?

Berkshire Hathaway’s Adam Lytle and Leslie Hankins have 11180 Heritage Oaks Circle listed for $764,999.
