Alexandria Duffy wants to help homebuyers find the right home.

By Rick Mauch
Candy’s Dirt Contributor

Alexandria Duffy of Fort Worth watched her mother make folks happy in her career in the apartment business. As is often the case with a child, it made an impression on her.

“I began working in the apartment industry as soon as I turned 18 because it was familiar as my mother had always been in the business,” Duffy said.

“I never felt as if it were the direction I wanted to go for the rest of my life.”

It was during those years, however, that she began to explore the idea of getting her real estate license because she did love the people, the environment, and so many aspects of that line of work.

“It was nearly 10 years before I decided I was going to make the change and pursue the goal of establishing myself in the real estate business,” she said.

That is exactly what she has done today. She recently celebrated the completion of her first year in the business as a member of the Flint-based Morton Realty Group. We’re recognizing her this week in our Agent Profile.

“The idea of assisting people in finding the perfect home, where they can make beautiful memories, always intrigued me,” she said. “I also wanted to have a flexible schedule so I could be available to my children while they are still young. After a few people that I am extremely close to decided to begin their real estate journey, I decided it was time for me to take that leap as well.”

Before the career adjustment, she enjoyed success in the apartment industry. She began as a leasing agent at an apartment complex as soon as she was old enough to do so. She worked her way up to assistant manager, and eventually property manager over eight years.

“Although I had genuinely enjoyed working in that business, I had the desire to have a more flexible schedule and to be able to assist people in finding the perfect place to call home on an even greater scale,” she said. “Real estate was really a given when those wheels began turning, as I was looking to make a permanent change and really define the direction that my career was heading.”

She said she does apply many aspects of her previous experience to her real estate career. Most notable are her dealings with people, which she said have always been important.

She has the credo of working to put people in a better position than when she found them.

“I learned early on that people want to know that they are not just another customer, but rather, a very unique individual with unique circumstances,” she said. “Catering to their very personal needs and desires makes them comfortable in their journey and it helped me to develop personal friendships over the years.

“I also became familiar with contracts, fair housing laws, and many other things that have been a wonderful asset to me in the real estate industry.”

In short, she simply loves helping people.

“Buying a home is one of the biggest decisions someone will make in their life and how amazing that I have the privilege of being a part of that experience,” she said.

When she’s not working, Duffy loves spending time with her aforementioned family.

“They revive me when things are pressing,” she said with a smile.

She also loves to read books and get in a good workout.

“The family revives the soul. The workouts and books revive the mind,” she said. “I am blessed to work in a field that I love and never gets old.”
