If the ladies on Selling Sunset had the opportunity to list this Vaquero Mediterranean mansion, the nails would be out!

For those of you that have not indulged, Selling Sunset, the Netflix luxury real estate series, is like the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills meets Million Dollar Listing.

It’s filled with girl drama, but it has also given me an eye into what our California luxury buyers want. A resort lifestyle is a given, privacy is critical, and security is a must-have for our West Coast buyers. The obvious answer to the desires of at least one lucky buyer lies in this gorgeous mansion in Vaquero.

The exquisite staging was provided by the team at George Bass Stage & Design.

“People move to Vaquero because it’s so private,” Allie Beth Allman listing agent Dona Robinson said. “It’s kind of like trying to get into Fort Knox. You have to be on a list to get in. They take security seriously.”

Yes, that’s more copper you see in the bar!

Of course, Vaquero is also gorgeous.

The 525-acre community of rolling hills was carved out of the 2,500-acre former Circle T Ranch, owned by the infamous Hunt brothers. With the 4,200-square-foot clubhouse and a beautiful Tom Fazio-designed golf course, you can understand why not only California transplants are drawn to Vaquero. It’s also been the choice of local celebrities, politicians, and athletes for years.

We’ve loved this 9,432-square-foot Vaquero Mediterranean since we first laid eyes on it here at Daltxrealestate.com.

“Construction started in 2009, and it was about a two-year build process,” Robinson said. “The owners used natural, solid limestone and amazing woods, including white oak and pecky cypress.”

A Sanctuary in Westlake

Architect Weldon Turner of Turner Boaz designed this Vaquero Mediterranean with elements that weren’t on most people’s radar 10 years ago. The use of custom steel windows and doors was entirely cutting edge then and something you only saw in commercial construction.

The original owners were from Napa, and that laid-back wine country style inspired the design.

“This home is timeless,” Robinson said. “It will look good for the next 500 years. Every square inch of the house offers something unique. The entire home wraps around the inner courtyard with an indigo pool and spa. It’s such a beautiful focal point.”

This gorgeous Vaquero Mediterranean mansion is on 1.55 acres with four bedrooms, five bathrooms, a powder bath, a 1,500-bottle wine room, a home gym, and a four-car garage.

“It’s a sanctuary here, with the beautiful topography,” Robinson said.
