A Terrazzo-Tiled Entryway Gives This Allen Home A Little Somethin’ Somethin’

Behind the alley, there’s a three-acre greenbelt the city is said to be converting to a park so swing sets galore. Of course, it’ll have that new mulch and not the hot beads of gravel most of us grew up with. Kids today have it so easy. They never head home with gravel embedded in their knee or having witnessed the daring kid shoot it out of his nose.

c3c20143aacc36de5bb91d5e6616bd76l-m2269594379xd-w1020_h770_q80ANYWAY, this house has a terrazzo tile entryway and an arched brick wall separating the entry from the living. In case you haven’t heard or seen just about everywhere, terrazzo is having a moment.

It’s super coveted and it’s basically indestructible. This particular detail tells us this house was constructed with some VERY nice details when the slab was first poured in 1977. Terrazzo ain’t cheap and no doubt endless party-goers stepped inside and tossed their jackets aside for THE party in the neighborhood. With a floor like that, you tend to be the host of the happy hours.

It’s cozy, it’s comfy and probably hosted many a game of Twister. The house feels fresh with vaulted beamed ceilings and new wood vinyl plank flooring throughout.

Inside the galley kitchen, the original cabinets were recently painted white and the wood-like countertops add warmth to the space. There’s also a breakfast nook with a ceiling fan because even though it’s fall now, don’t be fooled, we always need a cool breeze in North Texas.

c3c20143aacc36de5bb91d5e6616bd76l-m2269594379xd-w1020_h770_q80A substantial master bedroom gives you lots of options for furniture layout and the master bath has everything you need. The original tumbled marble vanities take you back in time, but the updated fixtures and mirrors keep you rooted in the present. When you see an original vanity that still looks that good it makes you think these owners have very lovingly cared for this home and that’s something that deserves a major thumb’s up.

c3c20143aacc36de5bb91d5e6616bd76l-m2269594379xd-w1020_h770_q80The backyard is fantastic with a big tree and tire swing. It’s basically a Country Time Lemonade commercial waiting to happen. There’s room for a hammock, a grill and lots of hosting and even though there isn’t a massive covered patio, there is room for a small bistro set under the overhang.

Great curb appeal in a great neighborhood with slightly less than a quarter-acre lots. All that and the potential to play king of the playground in the very near future? Better take a look.
