Dave Perry-Miller Real Estate’s Bill Farrell has known he was going to list this pristine property in Beckley Club Estates for a minute. And I can only imagine that’s about the toughest secret Farrell has had to keep because this house is owned by two designers.
We can pretty much stop there, right? TWO DESIGNERS reimagined this house together and it’s every bit of a color-saturated, petite pool, impeccable dream.
A High-Style Beckley Club Estates Cottage
Let’s start at the beginning. Eight years ago the design duo behind Foxcroft Studios — responsible for the interiors of The Drake, Hudson House, and so many more — purchased this home. This Beckley Club Estates cottage looked nothing like it does now. It was a canvas where a few walls needed to be moved, a one-car garage needed converting, and a paint store needed to be raided.
They reconfigured the downstairs and the upstairs. They took an “OK” three-bedroom, one-and-one-half-bathroom home and transformed it into a jaw-dropping two-bedroom, two-full-bathroom home.
They updated the elevation by creating the dramatic pillared front porch and little garden gate with stone steps. Obviously, they painted the entire thing the deepest charcoal gray, too. I mean, you have eyes, you don’t need me pointing that out, but I’m doing it anyway.
Inside, black and white tile line the entry, and then the fun starts. There are so many cool and different ideas in this house — like the rust-colored living room with the sleek black grand piano. They added wallpaper insets and then put framed art over it. I mean, come on. Thank you, designers, for giving us all permission to do something different.
Overall, what I love most about this home is the coziness and how well it lives. You know? Like it’s an inviting house that is so well put together (again, professionals), but they have that magical gift of making it feel like a home that’s actually livable. You could probably even eat Cheetos on that couch. Provided you bring your own dustbuster.
I could literally spend the rest of this article listing out individual things I love about each room. Or I can tell you about some of the upgrades or what the heck, let’s just do both.
See these windows in the kitchen? They’re reclaimed, baby. They came from a warehouse. Just one of the thousands of cool details. Like the black and olive green kitchen with the black marble waterfall island. Cabinets from floor to ceiling. A vase that’s the king of all vases.
Hand-scraped hardwoods, a home filled with a mix of bold-colored rooms and crisp white walls. Spectacular wainscoting, ceiling details, and wood paneling. All are impeccably painted with the right kind of paint. (Looking at you, subpar water-based enamel.)
Gorgeous high-end furniture, fixtures, and art mixed with whimsical smiley face cookie jars and Elvis busts. Wall-to-wall ornate rugs and modern, minimalist bathrooms. A backyard that’s shaded and set for any size dinner party you can dream up. Low-maintenance artificial grass and crushed stone. A stylish cabana with a black and white awning, fireplace, and heated stock pool.
As for the location, Farrell said it’s one of his favorite streets in Beckley Club Estates. It’s one of two that straddle the creek and ultimately lead to the zoo. It’s also a cul-de-sac. Ooh la la. It just went live yesterday so now would be a great time to race on over.
