A Preston Royal Home Built to Weather the Storm

High wind-rated doors, three-fourth inch reinforced stucco, and steel-doored safe rooms are not features we’d typically point out while writing about a beautiful new $2.375 million home in North Dallas. But mention that it’s located in Preston Royal and a proverbial light bulb goes off. These heavy-duty features make perfect sense for potential buyers who remember the 2019 tornado outbreak that left more than a billion dollars of damage in its unusually populated path.

The 6,433-square-foot home at 6015 Burgundy Road survived the storm thanks in part to its early 2019 construction. The Doug Forney-built home is this week’s High Caliber Home of the Week, sponsored by Lisa Peters of Caliber Home Loans.

“It’s one of the most well-built homes I’ve ever seen,” says listing agent Brandon Stewart with David Griffin and Associates.

The six-bedroom home features stucco exterior walls made of three-fourth inch stucco plaster, high wind load-approved French doors, and a safe room located in the primary bathroom suite with a steel door and a Browning safe. Like Brandon said, it’s a really solid home.

Then there are the fun, luxury features like a pet bathing station in the three-car garage, already installed Ring cameras and doorbell, Phantom motorized back porch shades, and top-of-the-line Wolf, Subzero, and Miele appliances.

The primary suite features a standalone steam shower, Victoria Albert cast shell tub, built-in towel warmer, and a seriously huge walk-in closet with customizable, adjustable closet shelves and rods. Remember the primary closet also houses the safe room with double doors, well-insulated in the home.
