A Fun-Filled Colorful Kaleidoscope On Pinocchio Drive

The mid-century of mid-centuries just hit the market. Shock of shocks, it’s not actually owned by artists or designers. Just a couple who loves MCM design and are clearly not afraid of color.

Coldwell Banker’s Ed Murchison said the mid-century era was a colorful time filled with optimism about the future. And this house is living it.

Murchison said he helped pick the exterior colors — initially, the owners wanted to go brighter. Don’t worry. There’s plenty of room for the entire freaking rainbow on the inside.

Let me back up and tell you what you might already know. But if you don’t, back pats for me. This house is on Pinocchio Drive of the city-famous Disney Streets. Check. Got it. Next. In 1952, the Dallas Parade of Homes was created to “showcase the latest trends in building technology and design.” In 1954 and 1955, that Parade lived in Midway Hollow and, more specifically, on Pinocchio Drive.

What I’m saying: This isn’t the first time this house has captured the hearts and minds of everyone who glimpsed it. Murchison said it’s been featured in many, many magazines and hosted many, many parties and even a few weddings, too.

It’s spectacular — and the thing that jumps out at me the most? It’s just FUN. All the colors, textures, and furniture have come together to create the coziest, most comfortable, and colorful space.

Everything has stayed true to the era — and a lot of it is original, too. But where the owners (present or past) have remodeled or swapped floors or added this and that, they’ve done it in a way that it belongs. Obviously, this couple loves MCM, and since most of us do too, it’s a win all around.

How great is it to see a house with a yellow wall in the dining, mosaic tile wall in the bathroom (and that flamingo!!), original ceiling tiles and aluminum trim on the kitchen countertops, and then that super modern green front door with the slickest aluminum trim. It’s killer.

Great house, a great lot and upgrades a go-go, including new siding, trim, windows and color scheme, and new landscaping. All that plus a pretty stellar location and literally a conversation piece that secondarily serves as your home?! Yes and yes.

Murchison has 11016 Pinocchio Drive listed for $850,000.
