Gorgeous Contemporary Townhome Features Warm Finishes, Perfect Location

Although this contemporary townhome got a troublesome start, with the initial developer running into financing trouble as the Great Recession hit. It was left sad and empty, waiting to work its way through the mess.

And then Keith Urban of FirstUp Structures found it and turned it into the amazing unit you see today.

“This is one of five duplexes in the area that the contractor was building in 2008, ” Urban said of 3618 N. Fitzhugh, a new listing from David Griffin and our High Caliber Home of the Week sponsored by Lisa Peters at Caliber Home Loans. “This was one that the bank had foreclosed. Neither of them were finished, and it gave me an opportunity to upgrade and complete the finish-out on both units.”

And upgrade he did, adding architectural features that will knock your socks off right when you open the front door. It’s one of those listings that will have you calling your Realtor right when you see it. But don’t waste time, call Lisa Peters at Caliber Home Loans today to make sure you sail through financing, from bid to closing.

Right from the front door you notice those hanging beams, that cool staircase, and the honey-colored hardwood floors that tie it all together. This three-bedroom, three-full-and-one-half-bath contemporary townhome sports 3,185 square feet with a two-car garage. It’s located in Northern Hills, which is only one block from Old Highland Park and Turtle Creek, Griffin points out. There are two outdoor areas, with a patio on the ground level and a fabulous deck topping out the building.

“It’s a wonderful floor plan for an urbane and sophisticated lifestyle, and superior finishes and materials make this home stand out in the neighborhood,” Griffin added. He’s priced this beauty at $895,000.

The home has gorgeous steel windows and French doors that make the formal dining and living room bright and welcoming. In the kitchen, though, what really shines is the sexy, ceiling-height cabinetry. That gigantic eat-in island doesn’t hurt things, either. A butler’s pantry with built-in wine refrigerator, sink, and tons of storage separates the kitchen from the formal dining area. Sleek, stainless steel appliances punctuate the rich chocolate cabinet faces perfectly.

“Besides the third-story patio, I love how the natural light saturates the master bedroom and bath through well-positioned interior windows,” Urban said.

We agree, and we love the lines of the vaulted ceiling, too. But it’s those cool, vintage-modern matching vanities that are really intriguing. The angles and wood grain make them feel like a throwback from the 1950s and 60s, but the under-mount sinks and stone countertops are definitely modern.
