3715 Miles St.

I sold my beloved home in May and have been keeping my eyes peeled for little cottage with a yard where my baby, pets, and I could call home. My eyes are still peeled – as I’m sure you’re aware, it’s a crazy market with limited inventory and high prices. However, I did come across this little gem with the help of a friend with an eye and impeccable taste.

Listed at $400,000, it’s above my limit for a fixer-upper at this point, but my oh my the visions I have for this sweet cottage.

3715 Miles St. is located on the edge of West Highland Park. Well, maybe more like off Lemmon Ave. It’s being sold as a tear down with the value in the land, as new houses and multi-family living are going up around it. But it hurts my heart to think of this precious cottage being torn down.

I know it needs work. Ok, a LOT of work. But I have a vision for this home.

First of all, this screened in porch. SWOON. I see wicker furniture in fabulous Lee Jofa fabric. Cold iced tea. Fresh lemon wedges. Are you with me?GetMedia.ashx-2-1024x768Follow me inside.

Built in 1927, this 1,472 sq. ft. home has too die for old cottage-style wood floors. Yes, they need work, but they are great bones!

These wood floors painted in white or cream is my vision. And if I have a nanny watch the baby, there’s a great DIY article to make it a project! Just imagine the possibilities:

or maybe:

And the molding and doors in this house. They are just perfect! Details you just don’t see in new construction.

And let me not leave out the claw-foot bath tub! SUPER SWOON!

Put some hexagonal white marble tiles on the floor and white lacquered bead-board walls and I am ready to soak!

And folks, this kitchen.

You may not see it, but I just know with whitewashed wood plank floors, custom toile chinoiserie cabinet fabric, a white farmhouse sink, and new appliances it would be magazine worthy!

I think this fabric would keep it light and airy.

This dishwasher would be perfect!

Add a little, high-end white gas range with oven and you’re ready to cook!

A white picket fence and rose garden? Yes please!

Now, who wants to help fund this little dream project?
