Today’s Thursday Three Hundred takes us to Northwest Dallas, to a friendly, spacious, 1962 ranch, updated with modern amenities, but retaining lots of original charm.
Located at 3309 Citation Dr., near Walnut Hill and Webb Chapel, this home is 2,254 square feet with three bedrooms, two full bathrooms, and a powder room. This house, like the others in the Chapel Downs neighborhood, is a pleasant space with great curb appeal; comfortable front, back, and side yards with mature trees; and plenty of green grass. It’s perfectly suited for a family.
Chapel Downs is a neighborhood of 334 homes established in the early 1960s. The original developer was a horse racing fan and named many of the streets after winning ponies at the Kentucky Derby, like Carry Back (1961 Kentucky Derby and Preakness), Citation (1948 Triple Crown Winner), Venetian Way (1960 Kentucky Derby), and Pensive (1944 Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes).
Most homes here are single-story ranch-style homes ranging from 2,000 to 2,500 square feet. The borders of Chapel Downs are loosely Walnut Hill Lane on the south, Webb Chapel Road to the East, Carry Back Circle to the North, and Goodyear Drive to West.

Starting with the exterior, the owners repainted the house and hired professional landscapers to trim trees, put in new grass where needed, and new shrubs. There are also exterior LED lights and a new stone walkway leading up to the house’s new front door. They also replaced the HVAC.
Entering this home, you’re greeted by an expansive front room and two-sided brick fireplace. Original brickwork remains intact, and three large windows flood the area with light. The entryway has new marble floors (as do the bathrooms and utility room), and new engineered hardwood floors run through the common areas, with new carpeting in the bedrooms. The whole house has fresh paint in a neutral palette, as well as new wall texture and crown molding in certain areas.
