8240-Stony-Creek-extWhen I saw this house last weekend, Dallas was freshly moistened from that Saturday-afternoon rainfall that kept our temperatures more Maine-like than Texas-in-August. So maybe that’s why I thought I was in another place, like a secret garden. 8240 Stony Creek was not yet in MLS, and had the most incredible back yard I have seen in ages. Listed with the cuteness that is Shannon Saunders at Clay Stapp & Company. The home is located East of Central in that hot hot Claremont ‘hood. I had never heard of Stony Creek. So over I went and what I saw blew my mind:8240-Stony-Creek-yard1

THIS HOME HAS A 95 BY 189 FOOT DEEP HEAVILY TREED, LIGHTED, AND LANDSCAPED LOT. AND A LITTLE RIVER RUNS THROUGH IT!

This is a 1950’s ranch that a wise remodeler took down to the studs in 2011 and put in everything brand spanking new: plumbing, AC, electrical, tankless water heater, roof, kitchen with granite countertops, appliances, plumbing fixtures including a porcelain tub, custom vanities, Carerra marble counters and floors, 3/4 inch hand scraped white oak hardwoods, new windows, doors, drywall, insulation, fireplace, built-ins. In other words, the old place was demolished and maybe the foundation all that was retained. Plus, for a house of this price, you get so much space: 2270 square feet! Outside there is 975 square feet of decking, 500 square feet of bluestone patio, and even a Koi pond!

Walk into a broad front foyer hallway that opens to the formals and kitchen: living with fireplace, dining and breakfast area, which could be a table and chairs or just pull up to the huge granite island. Off this room is a ton of built-in storage with a bar with wine fridge. The laundry room buffers the garage from the living area, and it is designed with a pretty small sink that could make this area double s a Butler’s pantry.

Up the stairs is a huge fourth bedroom, a 500 square foot suite that can be a media room, study, guest or master bedroom. There is a huge walk-in closet and full bath. Off this room is a porch with views of the grounds — breath-taking!

Back downstairs, there is an entrance to the backyard deck off the kitchen via a French door. Back to that center hallway and over to the left wing of the home: three bedrooms, including a master with garden views, a full master bath and walk-in closets.  The other two bedrooms are hefty, and beautifully designed. They share a gorgeous hall bath. So you get three full baths in all.

This house has so much going for it, the most vital component being that it is drop dead gorgeously, stunningly beautiful. The exterior brick has been painted and the eaves restored. The landscaping with take your breath away.

As will the asking price: $369,000.8240-Stony-Creek-foyer8240-Stony-Creek-LR8240-Stony-Creek-formals18240-Stony-Creek-long-shot-2 8240-Stony-Creek-kitchen 8240-Stony-Creek-kitchen-2 8240-Stony-Creek-game
