Home tour fanatics have been dreaming about this weekend, when four popular holiday-themed home tours take place Friday, Saturday, and Sunday in locations across the Metroplex, including Fort Worth’s Ryan Place, Northeast Dallas’ Lake Highlands, the Park Cities, and Winnetka Heights in Oak Cliff. Grab your comfy shoes, charge your phone to take plenty of pictures, and consider bringing a little jot notebook for all the ideas that’ll come your way while touring these 20 homes.
Armstrong Bradfield Preschool Association’s Homes for the Holidays
The 21st annual Armstrong Bradfield Preschool Association Homes for the Holidays Tour features a home built in 1928 by the renowned architect Anton Korn for his family, a classic Greek Revival, and more.
When: 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6
Where: Highland Park and University Park
Homes: 3337 Bryn Mawr Drive, 4412 Lakeside Drive, 4233 Edmondson, and 3509 Lexington Avenue
Benefitting: The annual holiday tour is the principal fundraiser for the ABPA, with almost 97 percent of funds raised going to Armstrong and Bradfield Elementary schools. Last year the organization raised $85,000 for the kinder Spanish program at Armstrong and purchasde instructional materials, books, technology, math manipulatives , and teacher workshops at Bradfield.
Tickets: Purchase tickets for$25 in advance and $30 the day of the tour.
Candlelight Christmas in Ryans Place Home Tour
The self-paced Candlelight Christmas in Ryans Place Home Tour takes place every year during the first weekend in December and offers five homes from mansions to bungalows that represent the architectural range found within the Historic Ryan Place Neighborhood. Tour patrons will be greeted by docents at each home who will highlight the history of the homes, hear the fascinating stories of previous owners, and be able to admire the spectacular décor and architectural design.
When: Noon to 9 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7 and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 8
Where: Ryan Place, one of Fort Worth’s historic neighborhoods
Homes: 2516 Ryan Place Drive, 1030 Elizabeth Boulevard, 1107 Elizabeth Boulevard, 2530 5th Avenue, and 2424 College Avenue
Benefitting: The annual Candlelight Christmas in Ryan Place, also known as the Candlelight Christmas Tour, promotes the annual historic preservation fundraiser of Ryan Place. The tour takes place every year during the first weekend in December and offers a mix of homes from mansions to bungalows that represent the architectural range found within the Historic Ryan Place Neighborhood.
Tickets: Advance tickets sold for $20 at ryanplacefortworth.com or Old Home Supply, 1801 College Ave. Tickets also available on tour days for $25, either online or at the Ticket Office located inside St. John’s Anglican Church, 2401 College Avenue during the tour.
Holiday in the Highlands
When: 9:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6
Where: Lake Highlands in Northeast Dallas
Homes: 9963 Capridge Drive, 6833 Sherburne, 9336 Shoreview, and 9455 Estate Lane
Benefitting: Lake Highlands Women’s League’s only fundraiser proudly gave back $207,000 to our community which included 14 schools, 17 non-profits, and college scholarships to 32 outstanding LHHS seniors this past spring.
Tickets: Purchase tickets for $20 online or available from Women’s League members.
Winnetka Heights Holiday Home Tour
If you love Prairie, Craftsman, and Bungalow homes, the Winnetka Heights Holiday Home Tour is for you. This year’s tour features six homes, and a VIP pass allows access to a seventh, including a duplex that has been turned into a single-family home.
When: Noon to 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7
Where: Begin at The Turner House at 401 N. Rosemont in Winnetka Heights, Oak Cliff’s first historic district
Homes: 211 N. Rosemont Avenue, 122 N. Clinton Avenue, 214 N. Winnetka Avenue, 310 S. Winnetka Avenue, 401 N. Winnetka Avenue, and 314 N. Montclair Avenue
Benefitting: The annual tour is the largest fundraiser for the Winnetka Heights Neighborhood Association, which works diligently to preserve and beautify the area so it remains a vibrant historic district. Tour proceeds will support the Walkable Winnetka program that provides funds for sidewalk repairs, crime prevention, beautification projects, and other local non-profits and neighborhood events.
Tickets: General admission tickets are $18 in advance and $20 on the day of the tour. There are only 100 VIP tickets available at $35.
