There’s Way Too Much to Love in This Oak Cliff Tudor

Check out the Tudoriest Tudor over in Oak Cliff. It’s in the officially titled “Daniels L.O. Jr.” subdivision and we all know it SHOULD be L.O. Daniels, but no one really asked us.

Speaking of not asking … who was L.O. Daniels? Well, his full name was Lark Owen Daniels, and according to Heritage Oak Cliff, he was a Dallas businessman who founded a millinery and a bank. Daniels also used his considerable wealth to purchase 27 acres just outside of Oak Cliff in 1901.

He also constructed a 5,000-square-foot mansion over there, which was recently restored and is used as a commercial building.

Guess what else is important about the mansion? You can see it from the backyard of 2218 Carnes Street. And that’s the Tudor-y Tudor we’re here to talk about.

Do you love this one as I do? If not, call me, so we can UNFRIEND. It’s so great. Just a total jaw-dropper with so many charming details such as exposed beams, wood-lined barrel-vaulted ceilings, and a tiled fireplace that’s so on trend it’s silly.

And let’s pause on those beams for a minute. Did you notice the Moroccan-inspired carvings? Dave Perry-Miller’s Emily Ruth Cannon pointed them out, along with the artfully vaulted ceiling, and said she was told the previous owners brought a lot of the fixtures and details back from Turkey or perhaps they were simply Turkish-inspired.

Cannon for sure loves this one and said it’s so linear, architectural, and beautiful. Just look at the freaking triangle sink. What a fantastic detail.

The wood floors are stunning, the built-ins fantastic, and the primary bathroom is like its own resort retreat. I’ve never been so into glass blocks as I am in this bathroom.

The primary bedroom is impressive and so is the kitchen. Both are big and roomy with space on space.

Honestly, one of my favorite rooms is that cute little half-bath with cement-looking walls and a rustic countertop. It is such a perfect fit for the overall design of this house.

There’s a little loft upstairs, wraparound windows in the living room, and get this — it’s staged by neighborhood. That’s right, the formerly Oak Cliff, now Design District staple. They’re fresh on the scene and they obviously have an eye for design, so if you need to fill some space – for staging or living – check them out!

The final plug for this one: It’s in a tucked away little haven of a neighborhood on a street that doesn’t go through so traffic is at an all-time minimum.

If you’d like to take a look, do it. Cannon has 2218 Carnes Street listed for $540,000.
