Is there anything more inviting than a generous front porch?

The front porch is a thing of the past with most new homes. It’s a shame that most production builders skimp on the front porch in order to save a few dollars.

Look at how deep this porch is. There is plenty of space for entertaining or just enjoying life

Tarrant County Tuesday has made a point over the years to feature homes (mostly older homes) that have a useful and practical porch. Enough of these five-foot-deep porches that big box builders slap on a home and pretend that it’s useful for anything. A deep front porch can act as another living or entertaining space. Especially when the weather is nice and the breeze is blowing, a porch can be the perfect addition to a home.

Porch vs. Patio

First of all, we need to get our terms correct. It drives me crazy when I hear people refer to the open air area on the front of the home as a patio instead of a porch. A patio is typically at the side or back of the home. A porch is at the front. Got it? Porch = front. Patio = back. Please try and remember.

Porches have feelings, too. Don’t call them a patio or they’ll get upset.

Beyond the lush front lawn and inviting porch with brick pavers and plenty of space for furniture, the home is pretty nice, too!

Front
It’s not a totally open kitchen, but there’s plenty of space and access to living areas.

Tucked among tall trees on a large corner homesite of Overton Park Drive East and Ranch View Road, and directly facing walking and jogging trails, is 3701 Overton Park Drive East.

Built in 1956, the two-story traditional home is over 4,700 square feet with four bedrooms, three full bathrooms, and two half-bathrooms. The home boasts spacious rooms for formal or casual use.

Of course, the kitchen at 3701 Overton Park Drive East comes with all the goodies. A beautiful Wolf gas range, an additional oven, a farm sink, and a built-in refrigerator complete the area. While not the trendy “open concept,” the kitchen is enveloped perfectly by the family room, breakfast nook, dining area, and study.

The primary suite is quite large — and check out the multitude of closets — the other bedrooms are upstairs in the home. There is also a three-car garage and a bonus pool room and bathroom with backyard access.

Let’s Not Forget The Patio

While this home boasts a dynamic front yard and porch, there is a great patio and pool as well. There are some great trees that provide shade and privacy for back yard gatherings and swims.

Need a break from the porch? Try the patio…remember…porch = front, patio = back

The home at 3701 Overton Park Drive East and its fabulous front porch is listed by the prodigal daughter, Margaret Coulborn, of Williams Trew Real Estate for $1.399 million.
