Cris Craft Home in Urban Reserve Available, Awesome, Gets National Ink

Chris-Craft-House

Really, it’s one of Dallas’ most unique new homes. I’m talking about Ed Murchison’s listing at 22 Vanguard Way, otherwise known as the Chris Craft House, designed by architect Vince Snyder. The home is named after the famous boat company that immortalized hand-crafted wood boats because interlocking wood beams under the home’s long, vaulted ceiling, evoke the feeling of being a ships’ hull. I think the home also looks like a ship from the front. It would make the perfect beach house!

Well, so great is this listing that it got national acclaim from the folks at Curbed last week. I dialed up Diane Cheatham, owner of the home and also developer of the Urban Reserve, who told me the house has been occupied by a tenant but will be soon be vacant.

Chris-Craft-house-1I do not think this will last long, not in our market. The home has a perfect 3927 square feet with formals, three bedrooms, two full and one-half bath, a lofty study, and a geothermal HVAC system. It sits on a .27 acre site next to a pond with a rainwater catching Vermont slate roof and copper roof. Water spill off that roof feeds the pond.

You will find it in The Urban Reserve, Cheatham’s single-street development of individually-designed, eco-friendly homes up near Forest Lane just east of Central Expressway, where lot inventory is thinning out. As it is all over town:. 38 of the Reserve’s 50 lots have new owners. Each home in the one-street community boasts high energy efficiency and dynamic design. On a recent field trip visit with a large marketing group hosted by Cadillac, I was privy to the crowd reaction of the development: pristine and well located as the perfect lock-and-leave community for those with an eye for contemporary style.
