The attorney for former McKinney police officer Eric Casebolt says he had had an unusually stressful night before he was called to the Craig Ranch party — dealing with one suicide and a near suicide. He had consoled a young woman whose husband had committed suicide by the pool in front of his family. And he had talked a 14 year old out of jumping from the roof of her family home. Huge stress points, but still should have not over-reacted as he did. (Or maybe asked to go home? Can police do that?) But his resignation has tempered tempers in McKinney. Jeff Jenkins is a newby senior pastor at Anchor Church in McKinney, and he has posted these photos of the community march & meeting that took place on June 8 as pastors, politicians, and community leaders gathered to hash out what went wrong with that Craig Ranch pool party that consumed social media from Saturday onward, and has given McKinney, Texas a black eye. It’s finally kind of nice to see everyone hugging here — that’s the McKinney, Texas I know:
I felt awkward but I had to take out my phone and capture God moving in our city.
God … YOU GOT THIS!
I love EVERYTHING about what happened tonight! I hate everything about what happened Friday night. The truth will surface and justice will be served. I trust God in this – and I trust those leading McKinney.
1. We (Pastors) prayed with over 500 community people and allowed open communication.
2. We went to the city square & met with The chief of police & mayor … They made statements to dozens of area Senior Pastors. Pastor Bruce B. Miller of Christ Fellowship did a great job facilitating the discussion & meeting. I’m proud of him.
3. Pastors asked VERY direct questions about justice & the future of our city. They held nothing back. They were bold about the divide between East McKinney, Downtown & the West Side. They were very direct about the image of authority, race, justice & trust.
4. The leaders responded “Trust the due process” … gave counsel, answered questions very well AT THE END OF TWO very long days and postponing 1,000’s of emails & calls, asked for us to give time, expressed empathy and acknowledged reality. They assured the process for responses to the justice related issues won’t take long.
5. People cried. People preached. People pleaded for change. People expressed their hearts.
6. The Chief of police cried in compassion for our people and love for God
7. We laid hands on Brian Loughmiller (Mayor) and Greg Conley (Chief of Police) and cried out to God with them & over them.
Some of the media is HORRIBLE about the truth here in McKinney.
A very peaceful march took place. It got a little feisty for a short spurt at the end but ended well.
This will refine our city and we will be better on the other side!
I love Mckinney more now than ever.
