Kellie Sirna of Studio11 Design recently listed her personal home for sale and it’s a jaw-dropper. Before she heads out the modern oak door one last time, she told us about one of her favorite rooms in the house, what she loves most about it and how she pulled it all together.

Sirna calls the breakfast nook, “the jewel box of her home” and hello, it’s a gem. Let’s start with that incredible custom bookcase with built-in wine fridge. Sirna said her uncle helped her build it and he passed away last year so it’s particularly special. They designed it together and his incredible craftsmanship makes it a real showpiece. Sirna has since become a wine connoisseur and said if she had it to do over again, that fridge would be full size.

As for the amazing rich Sherwin-Williams paint color, Sirna said she really wanted this part of her home to be layered in shades of green. The olive chairs, the peacock blue with green undertones, and the vibrant green of the plant all mix together to make this space feel alive.

That wallpaper though. The bold artistic ebony-and-cream wallpaper is from designer Kelly Wearstler, who makes everything cool, quirky, and unlike anyone else. Sirna wanted to add a graphic to make this room pop and seriously? Mission accomplished.

The dining room table was selected for the base. “I didn’t want to block the view to the backyard so I went with this tapered base.” It’s not too bulky and the clean, marble top feels welcoming and modern. Sirna said in her professional life she designs tons of custom pieces and doesn’t always have time to do so in her personal life so it’s nice to find pick-up pieces at local retailers.

The rugs are layered and Siran said her whole house is very layered. “It contains all my favorite things and I love a lot of things.”

The stacked sisal and hide rugs add texture and warmth to the kitchen while the metallics on the table, chair legs, chandelier, and bookcases add a touch of glam.

One of her prized possessions is an autographed copy of La Huella: Stories and Recipes from a Beach Kitchen that she picked up in Punta del Este, Uruguay, which is her new obsession. “It’s the Hamptons of South America and the restaurant is set right on the beach, like, in the sand.”

The small picture in the inset of the bookcase is from another one of her travels. Sirna was roaming the flea markets when she found this piece from an artist. She brought it home, had it framed and put it in a prominent place. One of Sirna’s favorite local framers is Art Dallas.

The bookcase is artfully styled and contains a bowl of corks Sirna’s saved over the years. She writes the celebration on each cork so she can go back through and remember all the best times.

Design tips from a super-polished pro

When it comes to styling less is more and every styled space often requires a second pass. Sirna said the most challenging thing is pulling back. Especially in your own home. “I want to be surrounded by everything I love and there are a lot so inevitably, I’ll go back and edit.”

If you’d like to see more of Sirna’s personal work, her stunning house at 7647 Rolling Acres Drive is listed with Sandra Breedlove, Ebby Halliday, for $638,500. You can also check out her company’s website to draw inspiration from any of her firm’s projects from around the globe.
