Yes, Bartonville: it’s just up the road!

Heard something interesting the other day: folks are moving here to the greater DFW area and EXPECTING to get in their cars and commute. It is not unusual for many transplants to come from places where they drove in an hour or more of traffic per day, especially if their job was in the urban core. Many have no problem with a commute, especially if one parent can be home most of the day. So with glee, they are moving to places like Bartonville.

Bartonville is located eight miles south of Denton in south central Denton County, not too far from the French Country Retreat in the heart of North Texas. (Aka Champ D’Or.) It also border Lantana. Bartonville was originally part of the Chinn’s Chapel settlement, established in 1853 by Elisha Chinn.

Sure when the going got tough, these folks just took it on the chin. Sorry. Could not resist!

Bartonville was settled in 1878 and named for T. Bent Barton. In 1886 a local post office was established. By 1890 Bartonville had twenty-five residents and a general store, a gristmill, and a cotton gin, all owned by the Barton family. Bartonville was hopping with 100 people in 1896 and the town and three general stores. The post office disappeared in 1905. Population in Bartonville reached 380 by 1966, but by 2000 there were 1093 residents in Bartonville. The median income for a Bartonville household  was $95,259, and the median income for a family was $98,140. Bartonville is also a quick shot to DFW Regional Airport.

And the real estate market here is sizzling: people love having homes such as 1222 Appaloosa Court in Saddlebrook Estates where you have breathing room. Try 2.9 acres, a 5762 square foot home with a grand entry, cascading staircase, spacious master and an over-the-top master bath. Built in 2004, there are five bedrooms, four and a half baths, den, four fireplaces, and a huge decked out cook’s kitchen with adjoining Butler’s pantry. Smooth wood floors are wall-to-wall in this home, and every window has plantation shutters. There is a game-room and media room upstairs, the four bedrooms, and a balcony off the game-room from whence you can survey the vast property and pretend it’s your own personal Southfork.

There is a three car garage with a storm shelter, which came in very handy this spring. Outside is a huge, stunning pool, outdoor kitchen and fireplace. It gets even better: folks in these necks often have horses, with the barns right behind the house.

Asking price: $1 million dollars even Steven. The home is listed with Allie Beth Allman’s Carolina Rendon. Went on the market July 9.

Oh yes, another fun little fact about Bartonville: there are more men than women in the town.   For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 105.3 males. Not sure what we would do with .3 of a male, but you get the picture. Ladies, if you are single, this might just be a terrific place to meet men.
