Listen, I might be biased, but some of the best houses that are hitting the market these days are in the East Dallas enclave of Lochwood.

I mean, what’s not to love about Lochwood? We’ve lauded and praised and fawned over this neighborhood for as long as the staff at Daltxrealestate.com has been dishing the dirt. It was only a matter of time before the rest of the Dallas-Fort Worth area caught on.

But this Lochwood home has absolutely blown me away.

“From the outside, the home is a bit of a sleeper,” says David Griffin & Co. Realtor Bart Thrasher. “However, once you walk in, the ‘wow factor’ of the updates really sets in.”

That, my dear readers, is a vast understatement.

This home is ideal for a family, not only because it is located inside the award-winning Reilly Elementary School attendance area, but because the floor plan allows for both an open plan feel while still maintaining some separation of space.

“This home is very easy to live in, with real hardwoods throughout and large open living spaces,” Thrasher said. “There’s a clear definition between public and private zones.”

For instance, when you enter the home the dining room and kitchen face the front door and are the most visible areas of the front of the house. Unsurprisingly, that’s also where most people gravitate when you entertain.

“I love the fact that the kitchen opens to the dining room, not the living room,” Thrasher added. “I love open plans — don’t get me wrong — but really I prefer some real sense of separation of space.”

 Views You Can Use

Some people avoid homes with corner lots because it often means that the backyard is a postage stamp while the front yard is positively immense. However, this home took a perceived negative and made it a positive.

“The large corner lot this home is perched on allows a side entrance through the cutest courtyard in Lochwood,” said Thrasher, practically gushing. “It’s under a covered porch just off Lippitt Ave., a winding creek-lined street, and just steps away from Lochwood Park.”
