Talking The Future of Real Estate on The Office Industrial Connection

Back when apartments were going up faster than the price of toilet paper, we said, “Huh, maybe there are too many apartments.”

Others said, “Nope.”

And when we saw strip shopping centers fill up with Amazon-proof businesses such as nail salons, massage spas and hair stylists, we said “Wait until Coronavirus hits, the state closes all high-touch, non-essential businesses, and orders us all the wear masks!”

Kidding, we didn’t say that. In fact, few in real estate ever dreamed that we would be standing six feet apart from anyone we don’t share a bed with.

So when Cody Payne invited me to be his guest on the Office Industrial Connection podcast to discuss real estate in a brave new COVID-19 reality, I jumped. Even blew dry my own hair, because I really wanted to know where we are going in the commercial real estate world: Will everyone really work from home? Are office designs going to change from the Gensler-esque signature of open shared (cough, cough) space? And who is going to fill all the empty retail?

Plus, Cody had a few tough questions for me:
