All home design doesn’t revolve around two legged residents. I spotted some architectural gems at NorthPark Center this weekend that will be truly going to the dogs. As a Lifestylist® that strongly supports animal rescues and adopting instead of buying, these homes were near and dear to my heart. The SPCA of Texas is having their 25th annual Home for the Holidays event where some of the most talented architects in Dallas have designed  some homes I wouldn’t mind living in if we could get them a little bit larger…

This “Mid Century K 9” won the Bark+Build Teacup award and was built by the team of BOKA Powell and T&G Constructors. The home is elevated to keep it dry, features an adjustable height water bowl, and made sure to have lots of ventilation of our Texas Summers. I love the turquoise exterior siding – even after a dog day afternoon it will be easy for your pet to find it’s way home.

The R House was built by Hillwood Construction and GSR Andrade Architects, and the community partner was Hill’s Science Diet. Hill’s is a wonderful partner with shelters across the country and is committed to making sure that every animal finds the perfect home.

Best of Show went to the “Benchy Bungalow” that was constructed by Ridgemont Commercial Construction and GFF Architects. Designed to create a space that can be shared by man and his best friend, it serves two purposes: shelter and seating.

The homes were raffled off on Dec. 7, but photos of the homes can be found on the SPCA website.

Don’t have a four legged family member ready to move into one of these? The SPCA has an Adoption Plaza at NorthPark open every day from noon until six until Dec. 23.
