Update 11:00 p.m.: so I spoke to Julie P, and she gave me the scoop. Seems she put the house in Facebook Friends, which is how our friends at Busted Coverage must have found out. Julie has been busy with a new wee one! Also the Horcoffs have a baby, too, and wanted to get over to their summer home to free Wentwood for showings. Coats Homes is the builder, and the master is upstairs, plus three bedrooms, fifth bedroom or gameroom on the third level.
Talk about getting out of Dodge as fast as you can. The other thing I find weird about this is that the listing agent, Julie Provenzano, has the home all over Zillow but NOT in MLS, well not yet, at least. Is this the new norm? Thanks to the folks at Busted Coverage for this alert, and then to my good LA Times pal Neal Leitereg for the heads up! Yes, Neal, it does look just like Jose Calderone’s pad, methinks it’s the same builder and designer.

The home is quite new, about three years old. These are the highlights Busted Coverage pointed out — you will die laughing:
5 bedrooms, 6 baths
• Not a bunch of grass to cut
• The kitchen is massive, you’ll feel like you’re living in a Pottery Barn catalog
• 15.6 miles to Rick’s Cabaret
• 6 miles from Whole Foods…your wife will love living so close to organic produce
Well, first of all, who the hell in University Park goes to Rick’s Cabaret? Secondly, the Whole Foods is waaaay up Preston, past the choking intersection of Northwest Highway and Preston. You’ll pass a Tom Thumb and Central Market at Preston Royal, just go there. Of course, there is the little Tom Thumb you can walk to over on Villanova whose lease is up, which is why Crow Holdings wants to put that second story Tom Thumb over at the Preston Pavilion, across from the two level 1950’s parking garage (dear buyers from outside of Dallas — our homes are brand spanking new, our infrastructure not so much) they want a sky-bridge to connect. Anyhow, I digress from the wonders of 3704 Wentwood.
What they should have added, but of course don’t know in Erie, PA or wherever, is HYER ELEMENTARY SCHOOL!
The lot is .24 of an acre, and the floors are stunning wide-planked oak laid on the diagonal. Not sure if the master is up or down, we will ask listing agent Julie Provenzano, who is the agent to most of the Dallas Stars both coming and going. The lines are clean, light, bright transitional, and the kitchen is stunning with that huge marble island, stone backsplash, built-ins and beams.
Really pretty formals. The home is a breeze for family living and entertaining. I am loving the third story gameroom equipped with an open brick wall and a wet bar counter. (No one does sit down, 60’s style bars anymore I’m told. That’s way too MadMen style.) You’ve got enough bedrooms for a bevy of kiddos plus a guest room. The garage is rear-entry so the front of the house remains uncluterred, and I love the circular sidewalk.
Those sliding barn doors are a huge new trend — seeing them everywhere!
The house has extensive use of stone and brick materials in the interior wall surfaces. Note how the tile is carried all the way up and around the master bath tub?
Lo
I also love the touches with gables and angles in all the bedrooms. The listing price on this freshly squeezed listing is $2,950,000. As I said, Julie Provenzano is the listing agent, but three other agents have bought ads to have their faces posted right below her’s just to confuse you and make Zillow a few more billions. Let me check MLS one more time before I hit publish… nope, nada. All I see is the old home they had on the lot before this shiny new angel was built. looks like they paid $1,199,000 for the dirt back in July of 2008. What was there, and is there now — two very different animals!
