Seeking a Cozy Abode? This Kessler Square Tudor Fits The Bill

Though it’s unlikely to find any snow outside your home during a Texas winter, that doesn’t mean you can’t embrace the Danish concept of hygge, which has gained popularity in our culture recently. Hygge (pronounced hoo-gah), which means “to cherish oneself; to keep or make oneself snug” is though to be the etymological origin for the English word “hug,” and perfectly describes the embrace that this 1925-built Kessler Square Tudor offers with its loads of cozy details.

I had no problem picturing myself in this listing from Robert Kucharski of David Griffin & Company Realtors, and if you are a fan of spaces that spill over with hygge, you’ll want to nab our High Caliber Home of the Week presented by Lisa Peters of Caliber Home Loans. From the plentiful curb appeal and charm of the entire neighborhood, to the copious amenities this red-brick Tudor offers, you’ll never want to leave your cozy home!

One of the things I love about Kessler Square is the blocks full of charming Tudors. It’s so picturesque and feels like stepping back in time! Designed by George Kessler, this neighborhood is known for its adorable architectural inventory, according to Heritage Oak Cliff:

Kessler Square and Kessler Highlands feature charming brick, stone, and stucco cottages with fanciful chimneys and arched porches. These developments were platted from the wooded lands north and west of older established neighborhoods such as Oak Cliff Annex and Miller-Stemmons. They also continued the established streetcar grid of the surrounding areas.

This particular home has all of the details we love about Tudors, including a large front porch, vine-covered pergola, and steeply pitched rooflines. Once inside, you’ll really see why 1007 N. Edgefield Ave. is cozy — it’s the original details, says Kucharski.

“The home offers an impressive list of details throughout, including a covered front porch that welcomes you and opens the light-filled living room with built-ins and a romantic fireplace,” Those windows flanking the mantle are perfect, too! I can easily imagine drawing up close to the fireplace with my knitting or a book and soaking up those cozy vibes.

But if you think I’m using the word “cozy” as a synonym for “small,” think again. This Kessler Square Tudor has more than 2,200 square feet, four bedrooms, three full baths, two living areas, and an eat-in kitchen. There’s also a pool in the backyard and plenty of important improvements that make this home obviously well cared for, including a new roof, fresh paint throughout. And if that’s not enough, Kucharski says there’s even more opportunities to put your stamp on it.

“This home offers great potential to expand to the second-floor unfinished attic space,” Kucharski said. “A great opportunity to make this your home!”

The updated eat-in kitchen features a lovely tin ceiling, glass-front cabinets granite counters, double ovens, and new cooktop, Kucharski said. “It conveniently adjoins both the dining room and den.”

Through the den, you get your first glimpse at the pool just outside through the French doors. That’s another thing — this home made good using French doors to allow for more light, which makes this Kessler Square Tudor feel incredibly bright and open. That’s a huge challenge for this architectural style!

If you love all of the charm of vintage baths, the master suite doesn’t disappoint! The master suite is large, with a private bath and walk-in closet, Kucharski notes. You’ll also see more built-ins and more French doors, which open to a deck that gives you views of the backyard. It’s incredibly serene!

And here you see how perfectly suited this home is for a family, with a great pool, privacy fence, detached shed, grassy lawn for all those cartwheels you’ll be doing when you move in to this Kessler Square Tudor. Kucharski has listed this gem of a hygge High Caliber Home for $564,500. At that price, you can fill this place with books and cozy chairs for all the wonderful memories you’ll be making.
