Renovated Modern Contemporary Benefits From Acclaimed Mark Ashby Touch

sat700woodhurst7Austin-based designer Mark Ashby has a reputation for creating wow-worthy interiors, whether he’s working on a Montana ranch or a sleek, modern city loft. And our Saturday Seven Hundred this week is a home that definitely got the benefit of that impeccable eye.

Realtor and designer Paige Poupart told us that her initial walkthrough of the home at 9031 Woodhurst Drive prior to listing impressed her in ways most listings don’t.

“As a Realtor and designer myself, I usually walk into a home to list it and can instantly pick out at least a dozen things that were done wrong, or need to be fixed — this one I spent a good couple hours in the house with the home owners and couldn’t find anything,” she said. “It’s like a magazine spread inside, every time you walk in the door.”

In addition to Ashby, Poupart said the current homeowners have been meticulous about maintenance and who they hire to update the home.

How meticulous? Poupart said they even passed the refrigerator test.

“All you have to do it look in a refrigerator to know a homeowner’s standards, this one is the same — I’ve never even seen a refrigerator that’s not brand new look as immaculate as theirs,” she said. “It’s really unlike anything else. You know they have loved and touched every square inch of this home.”

Over the years, the home has seen at least one other renovations, but Poupart said that with the hire of Ashby, the current owners made some very nice changes to the home — both functionally and aesthetically.

“I think it’s very clear a lot of the time that ‘flipped homes’ are very very vanilla, and this one wasn’t different,” she explained. “So to see the changes they made on paint colors, finishes, wall finishes, flooring — it took it to another level.”

The result, she said, is “truly unlike anything in this price range near White Rock Lake.”

And that isn’t hyperbole. A neutral color palette provide a backdrop for move-in ready living, and the high-quality finishes and selections belie the $749,000 price tag.

The large kitchen at the heart of the home has a large eat-at island, seamless Caesarstone quartz countertops that extend from the backsplash to the ceiling, cabinetry from 3L Designs, and a state of the art appliance Kitchenaid package with built-in refrigerator and wine fridge.

“Designer lighting from Europe, custom hand painted cabinetry and grand living spaces show off museum quality wall finishes ready for an extensive art collection,” Poupart said. Lighting throughout the home includes selections from Arteriors, Constant Guisset, Michael Amato for Urban Electric, Noir, and Philippe Starck.

All of the bedrooms (including the master suite) have California Closets and custom built-ins.

“All baths are finished with floating vanities, quartz countertops and frameless glass shower enclosures,” Poupart added.

A modern glass railing showcases a stairway that leads to the upper level, which is home to a space that could be a game room, or a fourth guest suite with en-suite bathroom.

And equal detail was paid to the outside of the home as well, with a new decorative stained cedar fence with a gate surrounding a lush yard of Saint Augustine with river rock accents, and a nearly new patio pergola.

“It’s honestly the first time I’ve been able to use the words ‘rare gem’ and it be the God’s honest truth,” Poupart said. “Even some of the multi-million dollar homes I’ve seen in Preston Hollow don’t have the standard of perfection and sophistication that Woodhurst has.”

The home has been on the market five days, and is listed for $749,000.
