If you want to talk trash, there’s no one better to dish with than North Dallas’ unequivocal junk expert Renee Ferguson. And now, one lucky daltxrealestate.com reader will have the opportunity to join the North Dallas Junk King franchisee on an upcoming segment of Lifetime’s award-winning reality show Designing Spaces.

The criteria? You have to have junk. And you’re willing to have it documented on camera.

“Everyone’s got ‘stuff’ — in spare rooms, closets, outdoors,” said Ferguson.

“We want to know how you accumulated yours and why you’re ready to purge.”

All DFW-area homeowners are eligible. To enter, simply submit photos of you, your home, and the trash you’d like hauled away (closeup and from across the room).

Other requirements: You must be available for filming in mid-July (the exact date to be determined). “Plus, we want you to have fun with it,” Ferguson added.

“Junk removal is not only a way to enhance your home — it reduces the weight that’s on your shoulders for not getting rid of stuff.”

Finalists will be selected the week of June 19. From there, Ferguson will do brief consults and determine the winner. On air date is slated for August.

According to the Junk King queen, partnering with Designing Spaces was a natural. “The show specializes in redesigning spaces. Ours is giving people more space.”

The common denominator? “Most clients wonder why they waited so long,” Ferguson said.

What do you like best about the junk business?

The recycling aspect of Junk King was appealing to me. I’ve always loved the idea of finding new homes for old stuff; of sending things back out into the world. We donate as much as we can. It’s wonderful to be able to take things to local non-profits that can really use it.

Why hire a pro?

Convenience, for starters. And time and money. Our guys do all the work. We have the tools to do the most difficult jobs.

Who are your biggest clients?

People getting ready to move, remodel, or downsize. We also work with a lot of Realtors. It’s quicker to get a junk-free house on the market.

What’s the strangest thing you’ve ever picked up?

It was during COVID. We got a call to remove 1,200 pounds of rotten ginger that couldn’t be transported.

Favorite fun fact?

Texas has more storage units than any other state in the country.

Anything you won’t take?

Hazardous materials. And teenagers.
