A Wichita Falls radio station once polled some New Yorkers, asking them to pronounce difficult Texas city names. When it came to Waxahachie, they were truly puzzled. (For the record, it’s pronounced wox-a-hatch-e, not wax-a-hatch-e.) Nicknamed the Crape Myrtle Capital of Texas, Waxahachie was founded in August 1850 as the seat of the newly established Ellis County. With a long history of industry, the city of approximately 35,000 residents has a rich inventory of historic homes dating back to the late 1800s. For this week’s Suburb Sunday, we found three homes from different eras and styles to profile. Which do you prefer?
