Countless Neiman’s Catalogs Have Been Shot in This Rare Bud Oglesby Estate for Lease

It’s rare to find a Bud Oglesby home for sale, much less for lease, so today is our lucky day. I recognized this home’s interior immediately. It was a popular commercial photography location for national and international advertising and catalog clients for years. As a former photo stylist, I’ve been here several times, so I can personally attest to the fact this home is spectacular.

Countless Neiman Marcus catalogs were shot here.

This is the perfect home for anyone relocating to Dallas for so many reasons. First, the neighborhood of Preston Hollow is one of the most coveted in the city, perfectly located and home to many movers and shakers. If you are an Uber executive, for instance, this Preston Hollow Bud Oglesby estate is the perfect spot.

But location is not the major draw here. It’s architecture. Anyone moving to Dallas will not generally be knowledgeable about our architectural talent. Oglesby was one of the original favorite sons of Dallas architecture and was prolific, designing everything from large estates to much-coveted townhomes.

I turned to our Candysdirt.com go-to architect, Lloyd Lumpkins. He is a present-day favorite son architect. He is also terrific about answering my late night texts requesting vital architectural input!

I asked Lloyd what it is about Bud Oglesby that draws our eye and our heart.

“It’s his way of interconnecting spaces, attention to scale and proportions, and his sense of interior space,” Lloyd said. “His interiors are so great because of the way he designs the flow of spaces.”

Take those pillars that curve around the public spaces. “Those provide depth, interest, and a layering of space,” Lloyd said. “Layering space creates a procession and a rhythm and allows the light to cast shadows and play throughout the house.”

This architecture and play of light and shadow are what have drawn art directors and photographers to this home for years. In 2013, architectural photographer Wade Griffith was hired to shoot the house before the present owners purchased it.

“It was very cool, and the Realtor at the time knew I liked to photograph modern homes,” Wade said. “This is such a unique home and it was an exciting one to photograph.”

Wade shot the home before the facade was changed. While every owner wants to personalize a home, it’s always interesting to see what Oglesby designed in relationship to the update.

When you relocate a family for a corporate move, you not only want a beautiful and a great location, you also want space. This Preston Hollow Bud Oglesby estate sits on 1.3 acres with 7,850-square-feet, six bedrooms, seven bathrooms, and one powder bath. That curved Oglesby design creates a great deal of privacy.

I always look for a completely move-in ready home when I dig for your luxury leases each week. This Preston Hollow Bud Oglesby estate is one that will allow for furniture to remain in place as well as the possibility of a shorter-term lease.

As I said, you seldom find an architecturally significant home for lease. This is one for those that love great architecture and at $22,500 per month, it’s a steal.
