Whether it’s getting them into the home of their dreams or helping them overcome some of the hardest moments, James Bivins’ goal is to improve the lives of others.

Bivins, a Realtor with Keller Williams in Plano, has been in the real estate business since May 2020 when he moved to Frisco. He is also a best-selling author on Amazon with his book Walking Through the Valley of Grief.

Bivins holds a master’s degree in education and has worked in that field for 30 years. In addition, he taught adult Bible classes and delivered sermons on many occasions.

And now, he’s taken all that experience into his newest endeavor — real estate. However, he still has a passion for writing, has two more books published, and has more works on the way.

Why did you get into real estate?

After a career in education where I helped students achieve their dreams, it seemed natural to become a Realtor. Each year of my final 10 years of my education career, our organization bought a building and remodeled it into a school. Becoming a Realtor was a great fit. I educate and empower my clients with exceptional service.

Can you tell me about your book on grief, when you wrote it, and why?

After losing several people close to me due to death in a short time span, I began to study grief from a biblical and medical perspective. I wrote a sermon to myself to refer to throughout the years. Over the years, I have shared it with many, and when COVID hit, I decided to share it with the world.

It began in 2005 and has been updated throughout the years. I fine-tuned it in 2021 and that is when it was published. I wanted to share it because it had helped people not get “stuck” in their grief.

It’s interesting that you approach improving people’s lives in two different directions, overcoming grief and putting them in the right home. Can you elaborate?

As a Realtor, I sometimes think that I help people find their dream home here on earth, and as an author and bible teacher, I can help people find their eternal home. I have always helped people.

How do you balance all you do?

All I can say about that is, I keep my eyes on Jesus. Sometimes my list is so long, I have to spend an extra three hours in prayer that day if I am going to get it done. It is all about priorities.

Do you come from a real estate and/or writing family?

No. I use my God-given talents and abilities, combined with my vast past experiences, to help others.

Do you have any more books in the planning?

Yes. I recently released a book that helps people see what it takes to sell their home. It is titled, Walking You Over the Hills and Through the Valleys of Selling Your Home. I had a new release at the end of September titled, Bible Sermons – A Fresh Look.

I am working on three more that should be outstandingly helpful to people wanting to learn more about God’s word.
