It’s not easy to do. It takes time, patience, money, and certainly skill. I’m not talking about negotiating the government shutdown stalemate, I’m talking about perfectly mingling new materials and construction into an older home. What did you think I was talking about?
Think about it — most contractors want to simply tear down an older home and not mess with the hassle and painstaking fuss that comes with reviving it.

Designed by local Fort Worth architect James C. Teague, the home was built for a family that never even lived at the residence. It was sold in September 1929 and then just over a month later, the new owner, W.C. Guthrie sold it to William and Mattie Hanger. While Mr. and Mrs. Hanger have both passed, the Hanger name still lives on in Cowtown with the law firm of Cantey Hanger. (There’s your Fort Worth history lesson for today.)
As you enter this spectacular home of 7,281 square feet, you immediately can tell the home has been well taken care of. The updates that have occurred since its creation seamlessly fall in line with the vintage windows, doors, hardware, and other relics.
In the front living room, the windows must be the original windows. They appear to be leaded glass with a family crest inserted into the glass. Windows like those aren’t made like that anymore.
A True Man Cave
I doubt the original owner of 2308 Winton Terrace West ever envisioned a man cave in the walk-out basement of the home, but it’s the perfect spot.
Who doesn’t need a full-sized bar, lounge, and place to watch TV? And for the person who has everything, why not a golf simulator! Imagine all your friends lining up at the back door to partake in this man cave!
