Talking with Compass’ Bill Farrell is always a delight. He has such a passion for homes and his very beloved little corner of the world, Beckley Club Estates.

This is a story about a home in that neighborhood. It’s a charming stone Tudor with incredible landscaping, set on a creek lot with a backyard that kind of rambles on down to the water. It’s terraced now. Even more so than when the previous owner and his husband lived here and remodeled it quite exquisitely.

And there’s the story. The previous owner of this incredible gem WAS Bill Farrell.

He spent years here, tastefully updating the space and loving it very much for what it was…not just a home, but a moment in time. It was his first home in Beckley Club Estates. It’s a reminder of that period in his life when he was just starting out.

He bought this Tudor back in 2012 from an architect that was slowly remodeling it himself. He bought it as is — it wasn’t anywhere near completion — but Farrell and his husband completed the vision. They lived there for five years before they decided it was time to move on to their next Beckley Club Estates home.

Now to come full circle, the current owner is moving on, too. She’s married and has a family. She didn’t when she moved in, so now it’s time for her to leave this moment to the next owners.

Much like Farrell, she put her own stamp on this house. Farrell is humble and loves to lavish credit on others. He quite eloquently says she “took it to the next left.”

She completed the landscaping out front and made the backyard what it is today. When Farrell lived there, the front door was a gorgeous green and he always called it the Green Door House. Now it’s the Red Door House and he absolutely loves the color she chose.

One very recent update is the floors. They’re original so they’re the gorgeous skinny-plank hardwood. Just before putting it on the market, the owner stripped them and stained them the gorgeous light wood they are today.

It gives this era home a modern feel. A fresh, neutral look that could make anyone fall in love. She swapped out the kitchen backsplash, too. Back then it was a thin horizontal mosaic and now? It’s the modern oversized white subway you see.

All in all, it’s gorgeous and it was just listed yesterday, so if you’re interested, get there now.

Farrell has 1410 Seevers Avenue listed for $449,900. He’s also hosting an Open House Saturday from 1 to 3 p.m.
