John Canterbury is now affiliated with Allie Beth Allman & Associates after spending the past two years with Coldwell Banker Global Luxury. He says he joined Chris Pyle and the Haven Group because of their sales record and the fact that they always have outstanding listings. Until now Canterbury has been focused more on buyers so he hopes this move will help him grow the other side of his business.
“Coldwell Banker was fantastic for me, I learned a lot and I still have a lot of great friends over there. And I always will,” he said. “I felt the move to Allie Beth would just push my future endeavors and desire to get into more listings.”
Canterbury previously served as the executive director of the Wilson Foundation, a nonprofit founded by international interior architectural design firm Wilson Associates CEO Trisha Wilson. The foundation spearheaded many projects in South Africa including school building, medial clinics, and testing for HIV and tuberculosis.
During his six-year tenure, he traveled the world and made countless connections, many of them influential people based in the Dallas area. Pretty much anyone who knows Canterbury will tell you that he is a “people person.” He loves making new friends and can talk with just about anybody. It made going into real estate almost a natural next step.
“My father used to tell me, ‘get to know someone socially and business will follow,” Canterbury said. “I enjoy being around people and working with people. It make the whole process easier when you get to know each other on that level.”
As a real estate agent Canterbury has learned that the job has required him to at times be part counselor, attorney, psychiatrist, and financial advisor. He admits that despite having a lot of connections, he’s had to prove himself as he learned the ropes and proved his worth. He enjoys the fact that every day present new challenges and that he gets to help so many people.
As for the move to Allie Beth, he says he says he proud of being part of the organization and looks forward to learning from the many agents he considers to be among the best in the business.
“I don’t see myself ever leaving here,” he said. “The people here are fantastic. Everyone has been very welcoming to me. I just feel very blessed.”
