Our Inwood Home of the Week is a gorgeous new Inwood Park transitional at 5049 Wateka Drive built by Alexander Hunt Distinctive Homes and listed by Bryan Crawford with Briggs Freeman Sotheby’s.

We know what you’re thinking: “Where the heck is Inwood Park?” For you determined historians, it’s listed by DCAD as Greenway Village. Yeah, not such a great name. That’s why this hot area between Lovers and Mockingbird Lanes and Inwood and Lemmon Avenues, is getting rebranded. It’s a team effort by area builders and Realtors.

“We call it SOLO for South of Lovers,” said Mark Alexander of Alexander Hunt Distinctive Homes. “Within that, we have Inwood Park and Inwood Park West. We are meeting with Realtors and rebranding the area. We have 12 new houses in one block. Unless you are in a new subdivision, that does not happen. Three builders have torn down the block, so agreed to use the terms. We have the nucleus of the builders and agents on board.”

And we’re on board. We think this is a great concept. If you have not driven by this area in a while, you’re in for a surprise.

Let’s start with Alexander’s latest, this 4,019-square-foot Inwood Park transitional that is not only easy on the eye, but it’s also built with integrity.

“I look at the homes we build through a lens of what would I want if I was living there,” Alexander said. “We insulate the pipes, walls, and subfloor to minimize sound. We waterproof bathroom floors and add heavy-duty garbage disposals. It’s a lot of things people cannot see but will appreciate once they are living in the home. We believe this is the right way to build.”

Knowing the internal mechanisms of a home are solid creates a giant sigh of relief on the part of potential buyers, but we all know it’s looks that sell. This Inwood Park transitional has them in spades. From the hard coat, smooth, stucco exterior and museum-finish sheetrock, to the curbless European shower, and the kitchen with floating shelves under-lit with LED lights, Alexander has thought of everything a homeowner could want. There are four bedrooms, three bedrooms, and a powder bath in this Inwood Park transitional.

Notice the detail. The rift-cut white oak is used not only for the floating shelves but also as trim for the kitchen vent.

The kitchen has a Fisher and Paykel appliance package.

“The house lives really well,” Crawford said. “It’s open, but you have privacy from the main living spaces in the downstairs master suite.” Upstairs Alexander has designed a clever element into the Jack-and-Jill bathroom. He added a hamper into each side of the split vanities. Parents will love this!

Alexander came into the construction business from the finance world, so he understands the numbers side of building. But he’s also not going to skimp on quality.

“If something is good for the house, we put it in. Our goal is to build a great house someone is going to like,” he said. “I enjoy the flexibility of this industry, being able to create something and change the landscape of a neighborhood. We want to build homes that people will enjoy and that will look good for years. Every plan we create has to pass what we call the test of time. It has to look good 20 years from now, and it has to fit into the neighborhood.”

And you know we also love a builder that understand the value of staging. This home was staged by the lovely ladies of Look Interiors and Staging. It’s hard to define these popular open-plan living spaces without furnishing them!

Of course, the house has Smart home features with Category 6 wiring to one central location upstairs and a wireless front door with a keypad that you can unlock through your phone.

Crawford has this Inwood Park transitional listed for $1,085 million. Check it out this weekend … if it’s still available. If not, just stay tuned — we are going to bring you a lot more on this hot new neighborhood!

Open House: Sunday, July 29 2-4 p.m.
