Is your heart beating faster? There is also a huge plus right here, in what I think is the THEE most important element of real estate: location. This home overlooks Tokalon, which I would arguably call the most beautiful street in Dallas, or certainly one of the top five.

Let us pause here. What ARE the most beautiful streets in Dallas? Tokalon, Beverly, Swiss, Nonesuch, and Rockbrook. But I also love Meadowood, Meadowbrook, DeLoache, Brookview and Cochran Chapel. Vanguard Way? Strait Lane, meh. So flat, so showy. Don’t know, there are so many. We will truly have to post on that topic sometime, so put your best street-thinking caps on. Meantime, 2429 Pickens…

This contemporary delight is listed with Scott Carlson at Briggs Freeman Sotheby’s International Real Estate. A snazzy,  art-friendly, home was designed by Jonathan Delcambre, a young, mega award-winning architect who seems to be one of the most green-building architects in town. The US Green Building Council award-winner has snagged prizes for homes all over Dallas, from 706 Kessler Woods to 468 Easton Road.2429-Pickens-dining-room

This Lakewood home was built in 2010  — 1957 if you look at DCAD, but that’s because the original foundation was kept. All else is brand spanking NEW. The home has 3996 square feet that jams in four bedrooms, three full and one-half bath, two living and two dining areas, a study book nook, and wet bar with wine storage. The heart of the home is a huge kitchen-living-den with spectacular views of the landscaped backyard, because cabinets have been hung high with clear glass backsplash. The kitchen is sleekly functional, outfitted with Thermador appliances, walnut cabinets, smoked glass, granite & CaesarStone counters. All doors and windows are highest efficiency, and the home comes with tankless water heater as well as radiant barrier. Energy efficiency is what this architect does best.

The master is spacious and has a sleekly contemporary bathroom with Spanish Porcelanosa tile and a striking, freestanding soaker tub. I love the juxtaposition of the wood drawers with white on white laminate cabinets. Those mirror mounted faucets are also favorites, we have one upstairs in my daughter’s room. The two “childrens” bedrooms are precious, share a Jack and Jill bath, and the study nook makes a perfect entertainment nook or a place to just sip while flipping through a favorite tome.

Of course, I think anyone who buys this home is more likely to be reading on his or her ipad.

I also love the chalkboard wall — my daughter-in-law created one in their home in California, and it is very fun as well as handy. Sure beats sticky notes crammed all over the walls.

In the backyard, there is a nice fire pit over a crushed rock patio that lets water filter through rather than off off wastefully. The .21 of am acre lot seems much larger because of the mature landscaping and regal positioning. I know Mr.and Mrs. T.Boone have those two giant houses — Toni’s on Strait Lane, and T. Boone’s on Alva Court — but wouldn’t it be fun for them to be the Pickens on Pickens? Maybe the street was named after T. Boone himself!

Of course, if this home is for you, don’t forget to finance with the amazing pros at Inwood Home Loans at Inwood National Bank. They will make sure that your financing is headache-free, so you can enjoy your gorgeous, energy-efficient, modern home!
